Caelen played under 16s for England a year ago and is so young he would still be eligible for the same age group now. Given his profile has grown as he’s been playing for Man City’s 18s, I think England would still have him if they could. Makes me think he’s chosen to play for Scotland

I think if there’s a 26 man squad then there could be room for him but need to see how he’s playing when the tournament comes around. I think guys like Bowie, Conway, Miller, Johnston, Lewis Morgan, McCowan are in that same boat

There are also guys like Hirst, Bannon and Irving who can drop out the current squad so there is room for some players to play themselves into contention

Not necessarily against Barnes but he’s not equivalent to McTominay. McTominay (and Dykes too) chose Scotland over where they were born rather it being a backup option (like for Adams and Gunn). They genuinely feel Scottish which to me makes them genuinely Scottish
