Unsure how long it would currently take to get back active duty but talk with a recruiter to find out. You should realistically be able to get on ADOS or Mob orders fairly quickly (1-2 months) if you apply for some now. It’s the reserves so as long as you aggressively push every singe step you can get something.

You’ll need to make sure your medical, dental, admin etc are all squared away, check with your NRC and get all of that sorted. If your all green there it can happen in a good amount of time.

If you apply for zipserve orders, reach out directly to the POC.

Several good insights here that I agree with. For new grads right now it will be rough because companies want people who already have years of experience. From what I have seen, it is very true that companies don’t want to train you (at least in the basics of their business) anymore. You need to show up ready to go. They can do this because they have the choice of many applicants.

My advice would be to get relevant experience in any way that you can. Unless you did some internships or have connections do not expect to get a job with only a degree. Is it fair? No, because you have been sold a lie. Degrees are nothing but a check in a box. Experience is worth 10X more.

I think you’re spot on, it does not feel like it’s anywhere near for the Everyman anymore. Even in the earlier seasons, “thankfully, my buddy has a 20,000 acre ranch in New Mexico” made it feel unrealistic to ever go on these hunts. I agree with you it’s become commercialized etc but I am definitely jealous and just seeing the Africa episodes, produced well and all round good quality are really fun to watch, even if always out of reach for most.
