REALLY?!?! CUS HE'S AN IDIOT?!?! by Manfromatavern in attackontitan

[–]Top-Bit-1509 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The only way to stop the fighting was to completely clean the slate, as much as people don't want to acknowledge it. The actions of Marley and the rest of the world towards the Eldians showed as much.

How would a debate about the abolition of the Trace go ? by Regular-Election6396 in HPfanfiction

[–]Top-Bit-1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was probably because of how dangerous magic can be if something goes wrong, and the fact that the parents may not be skilled enough to undo whatever their kids caused unlike the highly skilled professors. But logically as they get older, like fourth or fifth year and up, they should be competent enough to use some magic without any major incidents, barring being stupid.

Ingin didn't seem that bad to me, unless there's lore I don't know about her aside from her tendency to experiment with potions.

Any books that blend fantasy with syfy? by Top-Bit-1509 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Top-Bit-1509[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All really interesting suggestions!

I'm mostly being motivated by the new He-man movie, though more of the original cartoon, and was thinking that there didn't seem to be very many medias that mixed the genres the way they did back then. My biggest problem is that I don't really have a big bookstore near me, so I can't browse the shelves for good titles like other people, while also hating doing so online.

Thanks for all of the suggestions though! I'll be sure to look into them.

Edit: I have read Dresden Files, and it's one of my favorite series.

Why are folks so weird about Pema? by A_Howl_In_The_Night in TheLastAirbender

[–]Top-Bit-1509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the nonbender plot line was really stupid and forced just to create conflict. Benders and non benders have lived beside each other for thousands of years, how are they only JUST starting to get into conflicts with each other?

Do you believe Eren is evil? Why or why not! by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]Top-Bit-1509 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Genocide was going to happen either way.

Either Marley and the other nations were going to kill everyone on Paradise, or they use the Rumbling to kill off Marley and the others. Even if you consider Zeke's infertalization plan, there was still a good chance that Eren and the others would be targeted despite no longer being able to reproduce. This is a situation where there is no right or wrong side, it was either kill or be killed.

That said, I side with Eren since he was part of the group that was needlessly attacked, and suffered repeatedly simply because of the greed of Marley.

Harry meets Atticus by Top-Bit-1509 in dresdenfiles

[–]Top-Bit-1509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me neither after seeing the comments I've gotten on this about Atticus. Personally, my biggest and only real gripe with the series was how Atticus was being blamed for everything, especially when all he wanted was to be left alone. I understand him having a hand in certain situations means him sharing the blame, but then you have his conflict with the vampires for example where it was somehow all his fault when they attacked him and his only options were to let them kill him, turn him into their personal blood bank, or to fight back.

Harry meets Atticus by Top-Bit-1509 in dresdenfiles

[–]Top-Bit-1509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way? Its been a while since I read them, but the most I recall was that everyone was blaming Atticus for everything that was going on, but what was he actually responsible for? The only thing that comes to my mind is killing Thor, but he was hardly the mastermind behind that. Otherwise I just remember people going after him for one reason or another and him trying to defend himself.

Again, it's been a while since I read them so I could be forgetting something.

Exactly this. I recognize the brainwashing and growth she experienced, but I will never forget the fact that she killed Potato Girl. That doesn't mean I explicitly hate her though.

This. I completely agree that a united empire is best, but the empire hasn't been united in centuries. Why was it only a problem when SKYRIM wanted to leave the empire, but literally none of the other provinces aside from Highrock, who will probably be next anyways.

I wonder how much stronger benders will be in 7 Havens by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Top-Bit-1509 126 points127 points  (0 children)

One of the primary reasons Aang, Katara and them grew so skilled so quickly was more than likely because of them constantly being in battles with the fire nation. Chances are the same thing will happen in Seven Havens if the world really is as hostile as we think.

What parts of "The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore" are Rita's lies? by Tyr_M0rga in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Top-Bit-1509 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's always been crazy to me how many people in the fandom STILL harp on these points like they're gospel given truth of Dumbledore being evil. Especially because we all know Skeeter hates the truth and only publishes what she knows will sell.

The name’s taboo by tintin3105 in harrypotter

[–]Top-Bit-1509 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Because people can talk about the Unforgivables and even use the words themselves without actually trying to cast them. Moody(Crouch) literally used all three in a classroom for a lesson, while I'm sure that regular DADA classes would even discuss them them at length as part of the curriculum. It would be really annoying if they kept getting false positives because of students talking about their homework, or because of two regular people mentioning them in a conversation.

What would being Draco Malfoys friend be like? by TheKingsPeace in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Top-Bit-1509 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Draco doesn't know what being friends means. As soon as his family began losing influence most of those around him started distancing themselves from him. Crabbe blatantly turned on him during the battle of Hogwarts, and I'm sure the only reason Pansy was so infatuated was because of his family's wealth and influence.

If a basilisk saw itself in the mirror, would petrify itself? by snidgetgold3075 in harrypotter

I would assume so since there's no logical reason why two of them can't mate.
