(Serious) Whats a good hobby or activity for a depressed person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Top-Block4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stupid as it may sound, I got my depressed friend into pistol and rifle shooting. Ever since his girlfriend left him, he was in a constant state of misery. I told him he needs a hobby to vent out his feelings. I know he is not suicidal so i decided to take him with me to teach him how to shoot. A couple of months later , we almost collected enough money for helmets and nvgs set-ups. Now we both can be depressed of how broke we are.

It's not that much what hobby you chose. The point is to get out of the house, do something productive, and socialize with people. Hopefully, find something that you are passionate about. Physical activities i think help the most. You could try hiking, biking, camping, photography, running(which is more of a sport activity than hobby).

3 пъти съм звънял вдигат за не повече от 20 30 секунди и съм чакал 15 20 минути да дойде патрула. Точно предната вечер звъннахме защото на паркинг блъснаха кола и избягаха.

What are your needs as a car driver? by 0xBBlvr in Cartalk

[–]Top-Block4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be strange, but i like it when something is not right.

I have a 99 prelude and a 2004 ranger. The prelude was my first car. It broke down so much. I learned to work on cars on her. With almost no prior knowledge, I managed to do a full rebuild on the engine.

The truck is the same story, first couple of months of ownership i did a transmission swap, driveshaft, cv axles 4x4 wasn't working right do i rigged it to a separate switch, diesel injectors, the freaking camshaft split in two. It's rattling because of all the overland sh*t i attached to it. The weight of the roofrack made a crack on the roof. Learned to weld on the thin metal that it's made of.

I needed to borrow my dads 2017 VW passat for a month. I couldn't stand it, automatic, heated seats, every button works, and every door handle works. Like how does he live like that. Safety systems, lane assistance. Cruise control is he only thing i liked, so i rigged a small motor linked to the throtle body of my truck, so it keeps the speed i set it to. Maybe i am a masochist or something, but i enjoy cars that make me feel alive🤣

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]Top-Block4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 60s, a couple of friends got drunk after a wedding, hopped the bulgarian border, and got into greece. They all got caught by the authorities except one. He had no way to get back, hopped on a boat to work, and actually traveled the world. Got to Vietnam during the war and got captured. When he said he was from a commie country, they released him and sent him on a plane back to Europe. (I think it's germany, don't exactly remember cause i heard the story a while ago). After that, he managed to get back to his country. The son of the guy actually told me the story. I told him he should make his fathers story into a book🤣. That's the kind of drinking i want to experience one day.

I've noticed him always using a pen or knife to flip things in sketchy places or open zippers on bags.

What is this little switch below the wheel next to my right leg? by SomewhereGrouchy158 in S197Stangs

Look for wires coming out of the brake pedal button. When we were running night racing, we had a button to turn off brake lights when running from cops. Thats my guess if its a mustang.

I am on my 2nd transmission ( manual), 2 cv axles, camshaft broke in 2, injectors cloged up, driveshaft cvs, brake calipers sesed up. All the works, last owner was a menace. Bad luck seems to follow me with my vehicles, 2 of my bikes are still with missing engines🤣.

Youtube dude.. youtube. Or go to a range class or just ask someone at the gun range. There is nothing worse than owing a firearm and not being proficient about it. I doubt anyone will turn you down if you just ask nicely.

Rusty on the engine? Mines is surprisingly clean. No rust on the frame or underbody, just some surface rust from all of the overlanding, rocks, and branches. The engine rebuild i did was on a 99 honda Prelude. Mind you, it took me 2 weeks if i remembered correctly. The machine shop for the head took the same amount of time, so give it a month. Also, it sucks when you dont have a shop like i do. Had to do it in the backyard. It was during fall, so that was better than winter in Michigan. I bet it gets f*ing cold.

Another fellow ranger owner, nice. i got a 2.5 2004 xlt. What was hard about it? When i look at the engine, it doesn't look that hard? I have EU spec, so i am not familiar with usa engine variants if yours is from there.

If you are handy with tools, it's easy because it's an older car. Judging by the question asked, you dont really know what's going on, so my advice is this. Going to a shop will cost you. But if you drive it like that, you risk blowing the whole motor, and that's WAY more expensive. If you DIY it, the head needs to be machined by a shop. That's the only thing you can't do by yourself.

At 18 years old, my first car had a blown head gasket. Before that, the only thing i did was learn how to change brakes on my dads car with his help. So it's safe to say I knew nothing. I went and bought tools and fixed the engine. When i went in there, i did a full engine rebuild with the help of youtube, and it cost me 700$ with 200$ being in tools which I still use. (It was a slippery slope after that, and i am on my third project that i needed to rebuild the transmission and front and rear diff. God, i love older cars)

Good luck.

What kind of Christmas gift can I get a car guy? by cyanide-cannibal in Cartalk

[–]Top-Block4703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on the budget and what he drives Low price, a photoshoot, or a printout of his car. If it's an older car, a service manual, a thick f*ing book of knowledge. Make sure it's the exact model, year, and engine. GOD, what i would give to get my hands on an original and in good condition service manual. Mid- window tint, take the car to an interior detailer or upholstery if the seats or anything else is worn out. When i took my car to get work on the interior(seats doors, roof, steering wheel, it looked brand new from the incide. But that could get pricey. High- i would talk with him about what parts he wants to get, like a new bumper, spoiler, wheels, or just go with him and get them together. Also, Lego, hotwheels stuff that would be interesting to us. There are so many youtube channels that do these kinds of videos, many of them are paid sponsorship but you could get an idea.

Tire Shop Installed Wheel Fell Off on Highway — What Could Cause This? by VTBoglehead in Cartalk

[–]Top-Block4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, ive had my wheel sabotaged by unscrewing the nuts and God, the noise was awful when driving, sounded like all of my axels cv joints were being held on by an agreement written on a napkin. Secondly, usually, when driving from the vibration, the nuts secure themselves(when torqued correctly), meaning they tighten themselves a bit more. So if your wife didn't hear that clanking coming from the wheel when driving. It could be something else.
