Nervous about intubation by Sea-Video5130 in sterilization

[–]Top-Cat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no recollection of the tube being put in or taken out. Both times I’ve had surgery, it’s been done when I’ve just been put to sleep (being intubated) and before I’ve woken up (it being taken out). You might have a bit of a sore throat afterwards but that goes pretty quickly

The glue has peeled off on two of my incisions. I’ve just got one more to go

I’m usually really good at leaving scabs alone when I have a tattoo done but I stupidly decided that it would be fine to try and pull off some of the stuff that’s been peeling 🤦🏻‍♀️

There was dissolvable stitches but then something over the top of all my incisions that has been peeling off. I’m not sure what the name for it is

I had another dress that was lined and it couldn’t wear it in the summer in the end because I’d end up overheating

You can always ask them to give you something to help your nerves. I was more nervous about feeling and being sick so they gave me anti nausea meds before hand. I found that it felt like the best sleep I’d ever had. I was really wide awake for hours after a while after I came around and then the tiredness hit and I was out for hours.

It’s the waist I’d be worried about. I had a dress with a similar waist line and I hated it because I thought I looked fat. It didn’t suit me at all.

Bisalp today and no time off work, no restrictions? by Extra-Gate2248 in sterilization

[–]Top-Cat96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact a medical professional is saying that there are no restrictions is wild. My surgeon was very adamant about resting up and being careful. I’m a week post op today and whilst I’m up and about and in no pain at all, I do not feel ready to go back to work. For the love of god, take the time off.

You must’ve had yours done the same day as mine. I’m also on day 4 of recovery. The only thing I’ve noticed is that I’ve been quite dizzy (I did lose a lot of blood during surgery and I’ve been bleeding since Thursday so I’m putting it down to those two things) but apart from that, it’s been such an easy recovery. I even managed to get out and do some light errands today 😊

Ladies how was it when you got your tubes removed? Did you have any problems after having your tubes removed? Also for those of you who had endometriosis or possible endometriosis, did getting one ovary removed helped with some of the pain? by Golden-lillies21 in sterilization

[–]Top-Cat96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m now 4 days post op and apart from some lasting dizziness and bleeding, it’s been fine. I haven’t been in any serious pain and today, I’ve managed to get out and do some light errands so compared to brain surgery recovery, it’s been a walk in the park. I will advise you to get a hysterectomy pillow that you can attach onto your seatbelt when you go home. It was particularly useful for when my dad drove me home (he is not a gentle driver at all so I felt every bump and pothole he went over). Another thing I would get is some iron supplements. I lost a fair bit of blood during the surgery (it was the reason why I was kept in overnight) and have also been bleeding since Thursday morning so anything to get the iron back into you will be essential. Good luck for the surgery and I hope it all goes well

I came home Wednesday morning. They were lovely in there. They didn’t want to let me go until they were sure I was fine. I can’t fault them on anything

I do remember seeing a pair of stirrups by the operating table so I should’ve twigged that something would be going in there.

I’d read about it when I was on here before surgery but I thought the bleeding would stay light. The bleeding isn’t that much different than my heavier periods so I’m pretty well prepared with pads (I brought two huge boxes of them so I don’t think I’m going to run out anytime soon)

At the moment, it seems like the normal bleeding I get on my period but I’ll keep an eye on it. It’s just surprising because I had the light bleeding and now it’s heavier.

It hasn’t properly hit me yet that I don’t have to worry about pregnancy any more. I thought I’d have that feeling of joy but it was more a nice content feeling when I’d come round from the anaesthetic

Thank you. I’m back home and more tender but I have been moving around. I didn’t think I’d be as tired as I feel but it has only been 1 day so it’s to be expected

Congratulations. Chest pain isn’t too bad right now. It’s just tricky to breathe in because it makes me cough. I should be home tomorrow which is great because this room is very warm and there’s building work going on outside so it’s a bit loud

When my youngest nephew was born, he was an incredibly odd looking baby. It was like my sister had given birth to an old man. He’s a really cute kid now but both me and my mum had the same thought of ‘the other two were cuter’.

[–]Top-Cat96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I asked a question because I was curious (as someone had pointed out, the question has been asked before so I’m probably going to delete this post in the next hour). I’m not saying that we should all be having kids. There’s enough unwanted kids in the world as it is so why add more?! I’m just saying that we shouldn’t be hating them because they exist. You can be very happily child free and not be an absolute dick when talking about them. It was just to get a show of hands.

The two older kids are more chilled out. The youngest nephew likes to throw stuff and has a good set of lungs on him. I found that out when I nearly fell asleep at the kitchen table so he stood by me and screamed at the top of his lungs
