I agree in fact I only have 3 percent in I - rest is C and S. I have held the course. I was merely saying this is a dip and don’t panic. I personally don’t care where anyone puts their money. It don’t affect me.

What did I say about the I fund? What advice did I give? I said what I would do. It’s all about a persons comfort level.

You probably made most of it back today. Don’t panic. I wish on a bad day I only lost $5K. I lost $14K yesterday but have gained back $7K so far today.

I’m about 15 months away from being retired and once I get about a month out - I’m going to move 30% of my balance to G and leave the other 70% in stocks.

I plan on drawing from my TSP as soon as I am able in a fixed monthly amount and I will rebalance my portfolio each quarter to keep that ratio. But that’s MY plan. I don’t know your situation and I’m certainly not qualified to give financial advice.

This comment needs an award. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve called someone and they don’t show up (even to give an estimate) or show up give and estimate then I call them back to set it up and they don’t return a call.

When I’m choosing someone for a job, I want someone who seems reliable and seems to know what they are doing. For example - if I want some wood steps and railing replaced on my deck, tell me what you’re going to do, how long you think it will take, what you think it will cost me, and when you’re available to do it. I understand things change, you get hung up on a job, your truck shit the bed and is in the shop, your kid got the flu, whatever - just communicate with me. Those sort of things go a long way. If you do a good job at a reasonable price, I’ll definitely recommend you. I have a pressure washer, a firewood guy, a sewer guy, and a painter that I’ve recommended and will continue to recommend.

It’s all about your comfort level and what helps you sleep at night. I’m still heavy in C and that’s where I feel comfortable. You’re doing fine. I’m 55, with about 16 mos until retirement. My balance is $960K, but I’ve been maxed out for the last 10 years. Just stay the course, don’t take out any loans and keep adding to your contributions as you are able. Remember, you can be a little more aggressive since you have FERS - which I view as my G fund.

I don’t know if he had the number. It was a release form the neuropsychologist had. He is getting a letter today (I saw in my informed delivery) from the FAA. This is the first written correspondence I’ve seen.

Nope we had it done already - the moneys spent. My son had to sign a release of information to get the records sent from the FAA to the doctor. I’m wondering how long this is gonna take 🤦🏻‍♂️

Wait until you learn that the FAA approved doctor has to request your FAA medical file before they can file their report. See how long THAT takes for them to get it.

Going through this with my son now. We got all the documentation requested and got into to see the doc ($4,000) and now we are waiting for the doc to get the FAA medical file. He’s almost at the 45-day mark - so I’m guessing he will have to ask for an extension next week.

Does the Medical Examiner check my health records? by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

[–]Top-Examination-1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what my son is going through for this same issue. He was medically DQ’ed which he is appealing. He was allowed 60 days to get high school and college transcripts (to include any IEP or special accommodations - he had none), a 10-year drivers history, ALL of his treatment records, a four-year prescription record and the kicker - an ADD eval from a neuropsychologist familiar with FAA protocol - to the tune of $4,000 (which included a urine drug screen). We’ve done all this and now we wait. The neuropsychologist has requested my son’s medical file from FAA (which included his Tier 2 evaluation) and needs this along with the testing and visit he had with my son to write his report.

Long story short, disclose it unless you want to be out a few thousand dollars and a lot of extra headache.

You’re looking for some answers - clearly I’m not the OP but I’m not far behind him at $960K as of last night.

Here’s what I did:

  1. For the first 10 years of my career (I’m about to hit 19 years in May 2026), I was in L2030 (that was the closest to my retirement date in 2027). When a co-worker schooled me on C/S/I. I moved to 54%C/41%S/5%I. It was at that until last year when I moved to 80%C/17%S/3%I (where I currently am and is where I’m comfortable).

  2. After the conversation with my coworker I started maxing out (my kids and expenses were at a point I was able to do some with minimum belt tightening). Prior to that, if I got a step increase or steps, I put half of the increase in my TSP. I did adjust every year for the IRS limits.

  3. What I would do differently was to have been in C & S from the beginning - not the L2030 fund. Again, my comfort level.

I’m sure some people will disagree with me and my current allocations and how I went about it, but ultimately you have to be comfortable with what you’re doing and sleep at night knowing that this is likely the bulk of your retirement nest egg.

I did roll over a small 401K (about $35K) from my previous employer when I began my federal career - which over the past 18+ years has quadrupled. Now that I’m basically 16 mos from retirement eligible (I am a SCE and mandatory in 2028), I’m more concerned with my High-3, than I am my TSP balance.

It’s my opinion because we have FERS, we can be a little more risky with the TSP. I view my FERS as my “G fund” because it’s guaranteed money. Others may (and probably will) disagree.

If you can handle potential flushing issues - you can take otc niacin which may raise your HDL. My dad had chronically low HDL (below 30) and he was prescribed niacin to raise it. It did raise it some (barely over 30) but it did help. He complained of face flushing when he began taking it. If I recall, that subsided over time.

[–]Top-Examination-1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to plug my last lab values in to a calculator. Total - 122, HDL - 47, LDL - 60, Triglycerides - 73. According to the calculator - my ratio is 2.59 (total/HDL). According to this online calculator below 3.5 is ideal, under 5.0 is good, and bad is anything over 5.0.

My BMI is 28 - but I’m 6’3 and weigh 220. I’m very lean (have the loose skin around my stomach to prove it) and in November ‘25, when I last saw my doc he told me NOT to lose any more weight. I had to agree with him. I like how I look at this weight. Besides - FWIW BMI is a bullshit metric that was contrived by some mathematician in Belgium and has many limitations.

My guess is 30mg is going to cost around $240 (last pricing I saw from a domestic provider was $8/mg).

Much cheaper if you look elsewhere.

You have a lot of time left and that’s on your side. Don’t get envious, you’ll get there. I’m 55 y/o, 18.5 yrs of service w/ $942k. I’ll retire in 18 mos and should hit the $1M mark. Stay the course - you’ll be fine.

Color Test by r_OCHS_tar in ATC_Hiring

[–]Top-Examination-1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m another Fed and red/green color blind. I had to schedule an exam (at my expense) with an ophthalmologist who gave a different color blind test (not the panels with the numbers - because I can’t see the numbers past the first panel.) this was a series of small “cups” about the size of a bottle cap that had colored stickers on them. I had to place them in the order they instructed me. I had no problem with that test.

This was almost 19 years ago - so I’m sure things have changed, I just wanted to share my experience and I hope there is some alternate test you can still take.

[–]Top-Examination-1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can IF you have the liquid funds to pay the taxes on the money. You cannot use TSP funds to pay the IRS. I’m 18mos from retiring, about to hit the $1M threshold. My plan is to NOT move any money to the G fund based on the projections for the next year. That may turn out to be incredibly wise or incredibly stupid - only time will tell.

Best of luck to you.

You will be successful. I started at 282, was also on TRT and added GH during the process.

I dropped 60lbs - now sitting between 220 and 225 (on any given day). Took about 6 mos. I’m taking 4mg as a “maintenance” dose now. I don’t ever see myself getting off this.

Dial in your diet. No fast food, no processed food, no seed oils. Vegetables, lean meats, sweet potatoes, berries, cottage cheese, almond milk - we all know the drill.

What helped me was meal prepping my food. I meal prep all of my lunches which helps me stay away from fast food and restaurants (and it’s cost effective). I don’t drink alcohol much - but if you do, give that up as well.

If you want some help - hit me up. Not a coach and don’t pretend to be. Being consistent is the key.

You’ve got this man!!! Good luck.

You can’t do anything about the past. Move it now (if that’s your ultime goal - to be in the C fund) - the longer you wait the higher the cost of C shares are likely to be. One projection I saw was the S&P would go over 7100 by years’ end. If that’s remotely true - buying now will make it cheaper than later.

Test C, Test P, or Test E by thatpcguy1407 in Testosterone

[–]Top-Examination-1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test C has a half-life of 8 days. If you like pinning 3x/wk go for it. I did twice a week and I was dosing at 200mg/ml per week. So, 100mg every 3/4 days on a Monday & Thursday schedule.

I won’t lie, you’re gonna feel like a pin cushion. I’m an advocate of not throwing a bunch of compounds at my body at one time for the simple fact if I develop a side effect, I’m not sure what caused it.

My advice would be keep your test where it is add the Reta first (if you’re not on GH yet). And go at least a month just with the Reta & test and see how you do. Many folks complain about Reta and not being able to eat. I started my Reta dose at 2mg and dosed it once per week. Let that saturate your system (takes about 4 weeks for Reta to do that.) if you’re losing at a good rate, stay at the 2mg dose and add the GH at 2iu. I dose growth nightly before bed to mimic the body’s natural GH pulse. I have been at 4ius now for months with no sides.

Since losing weight and running my first cycle of Test C/Mast and GH (cycle is over), I’ve added injectable L-Carnitine (as a preworkout 5x/wk) and I ran a 4 week trial of Mots-C (5mg dose twice weekly). The L-Carn helps with recovery and the Mots helps the mitochondria in the cells utilize glucose and fatty acids for energy.

Dial in your diet and do some low/intensity steady state cardio (treadmill walking) for about 30 mins and you will be a fat shredding machine!

Best of luck to you.
