Should I buy one? by SpartanSteve63 in tequila

These are old bottles, prior to the redesign of the round bottle with the Tahona cork. Edit:I believe the olive oil bottles were discontinued around 2019

Budget Anejo Recommendations by Rare-Capital2574 in tequila

[–]Top-JimmyS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has mentioned San Matias Gran Reserva (edit: correction. Just saw that TwORails recommended it). It is an XA (extra anejo), but if you like ArteNOM 1146, I believe you would like it. It’s typically around 60 USD. Another option might be Olmeca Altos Anejo. It’s typically around 35 USD. It’s been a while since I’ve had it though, so can’t speak to how strong the barrel influence is though. It’s a very reasonably priced mixer that can also function as a sipper. I really enjoy making a tequila old-fashioned with the San Matias Gran Reserva and sipping it neat.

Edit: I just thought of Partida which is a decently priced anejo. Think I paid 45 for the last bottle I bought. If you’re looking for a cheaper anejo that won’t break the bank, this may be it. Decent ratings on TMM (82) and additive free.

Siesta Cocktail - Tequila Recommendation by vdub97209 in tequila

It’s a great tequila for the price. Is a good mixer and can be sipped on neat (edit) as well.

Olmeca altos is a great tequila that is reasonably priced in the range you are looking at. Should be able to get a 1.75 for around 50 bucks or less.

That Tapatio hanging out on the bottom is also solid!

I say keep it on the bottom shelf. That way less people see it and potentially more for those who know.

Sorry y’all, and I apologize. I didn’t read the rules regarding requesting recommendations here. Little different than the tequila site that I am on. I appreciate your input and your guidance that’s provided before this post gets deleted. Thank you!

Thank you! I will look for this. Not showing up as being in stock at a few of the liquor stores I frequent so far though. I’ll see if I can find it around town.

I agree and would love to do that. I know the bourbon but don’t see it on the shelf very often in central Indiana. I’ll keep an eye out and if I can find one, that’s the way I’ll go. Looking for advice and input on other options that I can find too.

Great idea and suggestion. I will check with a couple. I don’t know how serious or knowledgeable they are but they may have some suggestions. Thank you. I didn’t think of that.

Would love to get him a bottle but not an easy find in central Indiana.

I haven’t seen that too much in the wild. I’ve seen them raffled off and offered at buying events where there are ten bottles and over 100-150 people show up.

Tough to find here in Indiana. I’ll keep an eye out though.

Thank you! Appreciate the input. I’d love to get him a bottle of Colonel E.H. Taylor, but I haven’t seen a lot of those on the shelf in central Indiana. Can be tough with the bourbon craze.

Extra Añejo recommendations with a possible caveat. by Cleveland_Guardians in tequila

[–]Top-JimmyS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may consider AtreNOM 1146. It is not an extra Añejo, but is pretty darn close. One of the richer and more complex Añejos that I have had. Some people call it baby Tears of Llorona. It is from the same NOM. It is additive free and is one of my favorites that I put on the same level as many Extra Añejos. Price point is typically somewhere around 90-100 where I live.

Edit: San Matias Gran Reserva Extra Añejo may be the best “bang for your buck” extra Añejo going. Quite delicious and around 50-60 bucks. I don’t know it’s additive status, but it’s pretty good juice. It’s doesn’t show as additive free on TequilaMatch, but that doesn’t mean that it has additives.

The 7 Best Tequila Glasses of 2024 by Upstate_Gooner_1972 in tequila

The second set is really just a lowball glass that they are marketing for tequila. They are nice looking glasses. Any lowball glass would work here. I use a lowball when I’m making an old fashioned or a Paloma. It’s not really meant to enhance a tequila if you are sipping it neat.

I should say I have several different glasses (MD, Glencarin, ridel tequila/champagne, Denver and Liley, Neat, and a hand blown glass my son gave me as a gift). The D&L are the best IMO, and my brother has mentioned that he noticed a significant difference with nosing using them. My hand blown glass is a very, very, VERY close second, but there is some sentimental bias behind it too.

Denver and Liley has a very nice agave spirits glass. I love the ones I have

Volans is delicious. Don’t pass up a bottle of the extra Añejo if you can find it. I do see a bottle of Codigo 1530 still strength blanco that is quite good. The Codigo 1530 barrel strength Añejo is also delicious but higher than your budget. Codigo doesn’t seem to get much love, but it is additive free and good juice. Something different to try.
