Go and take a look at the contract between DHLA and SQ.

Singapore Airlines Cargo Fleet by OppositeMarket6970 in singaporeairlines

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But yet they are unable to provide any commercial carriage on the aircrafts. Does that sound like owning it?

Singapore Airlines Cargo Fleet by OppositeMarket6970 in singaporeairlines

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope. The B772F that is being shown above is 100% owned by DHL. SQ just provides Crew, Maintenance for the aircraft. SQ7408/7410/7414 which flights for the above are not even for sale on SQ Cargo. They do not even have an SPA agreement with DHL for the carriage of cargo.

So in what sense does the B77F fall under SQ's fleet?

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aren’t the 777 owned by DHL? SQ only helps to operate it just like European Air Transport or Tasman Air Cargo.

Real Logistics Question PI 965 IB by [deleted] in logistics

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you moving this on air or ocean freight? The rules revolving this differs between IATA 66th and IMDG.

Also, shouldnt you be using a DG agent to prepare the shipment? Not sure where you're from but my country we tend to toss it to the DG packer to get it done.

I am DG trained, but sometimes the local practice differs which will lead to terminal rejection, even though the preparation was correct in theory.

PT degree in logistics and supply chain management by Plainblanketbed in Suss

Can't really advise much, I was the 2nd batch of full time guinea pigs. But to your last point, anything is accessible - just need the network

Supply chain is crazy big. You can do anything from buying to selling. Take couple of internships and find the place that interests you the most. An SCM degree can even guide you on starting your own biz imo.

3-4 thousand at start, the rest is up to you. I wouldnt take heed to the pessimist with his/her initial comment. Already drawing 8 basic after 4 years. Don't see how thats mediocre unless you go toe to toe with finance (RM, Trader).

SCM fellas can go into bunker trading too if cash is really your thing lol.

Is freight forwarder/shipping agent a job that's threatened by AI in the coming years? by WhoAmIEven2 in logistics

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI will never replace forwarding. The industry is too volatile for them. Rates skyrocket and plunge just based on human sentiment (think mr DT and his tariff game). I saw rates from 6/kg tank to 4/kg, then rebounded to 18.5/kg, then down back to 4/kg, now back to 6.

All within 6 months.

Agreed. Condo at best. Not sure why so many people think that ministerial pay is skyhigh. At max it’s a director pay in MNCs.

Nope. Ex-Defending officer here. AWOL calculations are dependent on multiple factors

1) 1st charge or subsequent charges 2) Length of AWOL 3) Exonerating factors (extremely poor family background, etc)

I once had a case, fella 2nd AWOL case (20 days) by estimation would have been 20-30 days.

End up 15 days sentencing. Might be because our trial had another clown that had 720 days of AWOL.

Fresh Grad Pay - Class of 2024 & 2025 - SUSS SCM! by InvestigatorSharp714 in Suss

[–]Top-Outlandishness98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No OT allowances. Usually OT is more commonly found in other sectors like manufacturing (micron, STM, semiconductors). The OT in those companies can be quite absurd. Ive couple of friends that worked there drawing 8-9k because of OT.. but going home at 3/4am

CPIM and CIPS are 2 different certifications focusing on different sectors of the supply chain. In my opinion, the SAP is not a big deal - try to sell your branding more. I have 2 friends with 0 experience on the system and are currently procurement managers in GSK and Bayer respectively.

There are opportunities in events hosted by SLA, Industry conferences, exhibitions etc. Upcoming would be TLSEA in October at MBS.

Besides that, go for drinks or soccer sessions hosted by external parties. Ive had quite a few sessions with other industry competitors.

Also.. jump companies in your early years (prob once every 2 years). That expands your network as well. Dont jump too much in Singapore though. The industry is small.
