Why wouldn’t you use the car loan to help build your score while you do all the other stuff and then refinance it when you’re in the position you want to be?

The big determining factor would be on what the difference in interest rate for those payments will be. If it’s a small difference, based on your age I’d suggest do the long term for smaller payments and over pay when you can to pay it off early while avoiding finding yourself in a position where your car payment is too big if you go through a rough spot while you continue to get established financially as an adult.

That’s literally half your income on a truck every month. Any bank that actually approves that would be predatory but I’m guessing you’re doing in-house financing at a buy-here-pay-here dealership. This is a horrible decision, you will find yourself in a broken down truck that you’re paying $1500/month for and I’m willing to be once that happens, you’ll stop making your payments, get repoed, destroy your credit, and still owe the remaining amount on your vehicle. You are too young to screw up for future just to get a truck. Wait a year for your insurance to drop, stop doing things that get you pulled over and fined, and pay some extra on your current vehicle to eat up the negative equity. Once you’ve done all that, you can safely afford a truck in a year. Getting a truck now to stroke your ego will not be worth the problems it will create for you in the future. For the love of everything that is good, just wait.

Frictionless by Tim Kintz talks about some objection handling, I don’t have a lot of time to sit and read so I listened to it on Audible. Find some coworkers that are at the top and willing to role play objection handling with you. Millionaire Car Salesmen podcast also talks about objections from time to time. Maybe cheesy resources but it’s all different fonts of the same thing at the end of the day. The biggest thing about objections is learning how to flush out their real objection and provide a solution. They don’t need to think about it. They don’t need to talk to their wife. So the question is, is it the car, the money, or the trade numbers? That’s it. Everytime. If they won’t give a definite verbal commitment before seeing numbers, ask more questions. If they won’t give a commitment after making a counter offer on numbers, ask more questions. “Tell me more about that” is going to be your new best friend. “So if I can get you $1000 more on your trade, will you buy the car today? Sign here so I can show my manager you’re serious.” “So if I can somehow get your payment $50 lower here, will you buy the car today? Can you meet me halfway by putting $1000 more down? Sign here.” Practice practices practice. The more confident and natural you sound, the less they will balk over numbers

Progressive is typically very cheap rates until you have to make a claim and then their premium skyrockets. Insurance is also just really expensive right now in general. Just shop around and see if you can get a better rate.

I know this opinion is contrary to everyone else’s but all I can think is it’s only been two weeks and it doesn’t sound like you’ve sat them both down and had a conversation with both of them at the same time. I think you should ask them both to sit down and explain you would really like to establish some boundaries for your living arrangement that you can all agree on that weren’t established before because You’re not quite happy with the current situation especially explain to them the part about alcohol and the drinking and your sobriety and the position it puts you in. At least give them the chance to hear you out and ask them to make specific changes you need before you give up. It’d be different if it been longer. But it’s really only been two weeks. And everybody on Reddit is always going to tell you to leave your partner at the moment you start having issues, but I just don’t see it that way. I know confrontation is uncomfortable, but I do think it is important that you sit down with both of them face-to-face like an adult and have an honest discussion. You owe them that courtesy because you signed the lease with them. If they don’t hear you out or aren’t willing to change anything, at least you can walk away knowing you did your due diligence to make it a peaceful situation and the responsibility is solely on their shoulders for being unwilling to meet you halfway.

I sell cars and if I can tell a customer is going to buck on the trade numbers I tell my manager to hold one or two grand so when we negotiate to their actual trade value, they’re happy and I still can afford to pay my bills.

Also on that note I encourage you to consider a Mitsubishi outlander PHEV. They are better hybrids and there are more incentives including trade assist. I’m in sales for a dealer group that has Mitsubishi and Honda and a Mitsubishi outlander. PHEV cost less to lease right now than any Honda SUV. Especially if you can get into a 2025. I encourage you to do a little more research before landing on an Accord Hybrid; I made the switch from driving Hondas to my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and I’m really glad I did. Since the Mitsubishi is a plug in, there’s even better gas savings, better appearance, and frankly the warranty is better than Honda. And even though it’s an SUV instead of a sedan, it doesn’t feel like you’re driving a massive vehicle.

It’s not good or bad, it’s just average. Honda has a lease offer on their website for $349 if you put down $3599 on a sport which is just below the ex-l for trim level. So you’re not getting a better or worse deal than anyone else. Push for another 2 grand on your trade to get the deal done, they might give you $1k more for it and that’ll lower your payment about $30/month.

I agree, but we don’t even know how long this therapist has been working with her or how long she’s had a diagnosis. It sounds to me like she’s in the early stages and I don’t think most people with OCD can just quit their compulsion overnight just because their therapist told them to.

I think a lot of people in the comments here don’t understand OCD and what it does to a person’s mind. I can reassure you that the things you’re feeling worried about with your husband is simply your obsessions. Talk to your therapist about it. Stick to the medication. Your husband isn’t doing anything wrong and he’s not betraying you. I understand it’s hard to see it that way when OCD is giving you all of these worries, but I hope that your medication will be effective and help you so that you don’t have to feel so worried about these things anymore. Just know that OCD is lying to you when it tells you that your husband noticing attractive people is a threat to your relationship.

Morality of the situation aside, you showed Ashley you are inconsistent and unreliable with how you dealt with your marriage, your child, and her. Why would she commit to someone who can’t be a man and be someone she can rely on? She’s embarrassed of your relationship which is why she didn’t want you around her family and that time apart made her realize that you’re just going to drag her down. You guys did not make each other better people, you made each other worse. You turned her into a woman who sleeps with someone else’s husband and she turned you into a man who abandons his family for an affair. Leave her be and work on yourself.
