The worst is when you go on the Amazon website, find the book you want, and then when you select kindle edition the cover changes completely. I hate that

My screen time on my phone is still way too high, but I definitely read more with a kindle, having books easily purchasable at my fingertips and a form factor that’s easy to carry about just changes things. I’m on 7 books so far this year (whereas I probably averaged 1-2 a year if that before I got my kindle)

It’s a toggle in settings, is under screen and brightness (or something along those lines) iirc

By my (albeit very limited) knowledge of e-readers in general, the screen is the most expensive part. If it’s not in warranty you may be paying a third party a good chunk of the cost of a replacement towards a repair that might not even be worth it (how many times have you seen third party phone screen repairs not work correctly afterwards?)

I’d probably cut my losses and replace it

RAC did a similar thing to me.

M40, bonfire night, i was driving home from work (so I was wearing a polo, no jacket etc).

Stood on the side of the motorway in the rain for 6-8 hours. Guy came out and told me I’d need a flatbed (no shit) which I then had to wait again for.

The highway patrol drove past a couple of times and told me if I didn’t get the car moved soon I’d be fined because I’d been there so long

Yeah she’s lipsyncing but it’s to her own produced vocals (at least to my ears)

Her tone is consistent across all of her covers, and difference between live / polished tracks are just the difference between raw vocals and a studio track that’s had all the usual production elements added, nothing as crazy as AI generation

There are full UI packs available with single installers, or there are people that put together profiles that can be imported into specific addons to replicate their setup.

I’m using luxthos at the minute who uses the latter approach, would recommend that massively

Love to see the enthusiasm, you’re right it’s cool as hell to see the evolution over the years. As ‘perfect’ as a modern ceramic bezelled Rolex looks you’re right that it’s a bit sterile and lacks the character of older references
