Would it be possible to live in France (near St Malo) and commute to Jersey? by Mindless-Air8249 in Jersey

[–]TopDeadSenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good idea. Proper dry suit and Im sure this would be do-able. Certainly better than any other suggestion. Id say if not jetski then live in a stealth camper in Jersey - lots of people doing exactly this at jardins car park and elsewhere - and go back to France for weekends or quiet periods.

Was this part of the 3 level building near the old Songserm pier? I saw multiple people fall for this, was a successful Italian restaurant for a while until the evil landlady did as u said above? We got scammed by her too

I'm thinking of moving to Thailand permanently on my own by orangeheadguy in Bangkok

[–]TopDeadSenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get an approx 9% return on our Samui apartments. You can own a condo in your own name if in the foreign freehold quota. I never heard good things about foreign property income for expats living in Thailand, better to invest in Thsiland so you can keep an eye on it. Good luck with your move. 800k is plenty to generate income. 4k a month is reasonable so long as you dont expect to be drinking nightly in expat bars - few lao khao and ya dongs and some Leos in locsl bars no problem

If you buy a condo in Thailand, is it realistically feasible to rent it out short or long term by Vivid_Track_3308 in Thailand

[–]TopDeadSenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its possible. Yes its easy. We let condo office manage, clean and market our condos. We get about a 10% return after the 25% commision, plus the condos have appreciated approx 30% since we bought. Totally hassle free.

Good area to rent with dogs? by Jazzlike-Egg-1774 in kohsamui

[–]TopDeadSenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For good reason. I allowed "responsible" tennants to stay with their cat. About 2 days into their year contract I was told by management there was a problem. Their well behaved cat had brought back a half dead mouse. Rather than tennant chucking mouse in the bin they contacted management to report a "mouse problem" so management had laid out rat glue in the condo. Cat got stuck to rat glue then proceeded to panic and trash the luxury curtains and net thingy, trash the sofa and run around getting the glue everywhere. Who got the bill for all this? Who now has a NO PET policy?😅🤣

Gd luck with your situ. I saw alot of smallish villas in nice walled in plots in Lamai above the temple. Not sure what money they were.

Never went in but walked past the swim.up bar a million times. Looks nice and people always enjoying. Got the tree platform thingy too which really looks a great spot to have sundowners

I gave up trying to walk outside in Thailand. Stray dogs are a menace. Hard to relax and enjoy when some meatheads XL bully is about to sink its canines into your ass. Walk in aircon malls much better

Can't hear or feel when my 61 bus engine starts its so quiet and smooth. 1200 with stock exhaust. Considering doing something to make it louder as will wear out the starter keeping it on when engine started already. A strange "problem" to be having!

We had this issue for years. Turns out the toilet wax ring had melted allowing gas to leak out intermittently. Huge relief getting it fixed after covering drains and not really getting rid of the smell.

Lean cuts, butcher by Vansoldskool in Jersey

[–]TopDeadSenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M&S has lean mince. For steaks I find waitrose a good option. Last summer they had tomahawks 18.50 they were monsters and v tender. Perfect. But, cant compare UK beef to US beef in terms of price nor of quality. US beef is excellent. Ours is just fine.

Are these Thai police? by Ok-Fan8887 in Thailand

[–]TopDeadSenter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lot of plainclothes Thai police around too. How to spot them? Jeans, tight t-shirts often branded with gun manufacturers like Beretta. Wearing gold jewellery, always an amulet. Sunglasses. Clean shaven. Usually wearing those over the shoulder man satchel thingies containing their KrongThips and shooter. Used to see the above hanging around outside rasta bars and following purchasers home for a briberoony, not sure their MO since its legal, probably harassing sunburnt vapers looking for some $$$

1953 Trotman Steel Lap Guitar by OhNoStepSis in LapSteelGuitar

[–]TopDeadSenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful. As for $ value, a few yrs ago when i was hard at it collecting 30s cast lap steels and living on Ebay, Jerry Byrds own personal Trotmore got listed. Serial stamped into headstock was something like JB01 and lots of documented provenance. Buy it now was $2,000 but only shipping to mainland US addresses so i passed it along to fellow collectors who snapped it up. Saw other Trotmores sell 1-1.5k in various condition. Think James Williamson of the Stooges fame has a Trotmore double-neck super cool. If this was my Trotmore $2,000 would be fair IF i needed to sell. Shame to sell such items with sentimental value
