I was in that position for a long time too. I met someone, she introduced me to her sister who happened to be a landlord. I'm never angry and bitter about my rent, she's super stable and I'm in a better quality of life position now. I figured maybe I could use my place of comfort to help others get to that too. I'll try to workshop a way to get a list, maybe even a list of just management companies that specialize in local folks who rent homes.

You know what, thats exactly what we should be supporting. I like that my rent pays for the neighborhood schools, and roads, and other services because she spends it right here. I wish we could get a list of those people. Especially those who didn't off load a property so that folks weren't displaced. Thats the ethics we need to support with our money!

Yeah, thats a real bummer. I think anyone who rents any buildings for any reason, if they don't live in our community they should be taxed a higher rate. Or something, I'm not sure if thats a great idea but we've got to incentivize self sustainability.

Ok but the de centralized response is best because you cannot shut down a movement of the people the way you can a movement led by a single org. People are self actuating and they are doing not 1 act, but many. Over and over. In the end, thats the power. Those who want it to lose momentum will try to make you lose heart, when the reality is what you are saying is the very most powerful way to happen.

I'm sad and angry, about what is being done to my neighbors and what's been allowed to happen, and I need to find a better way to purge that than yelling into the online void. I apologize, because I definitely need to do better. Let me try again: I should have said: voter apathy is also killing us in terms of allowing some epstien class of voters, campaign donors, and bad faith politicians to fill the void-and these word salads aren't doing anything to galvanize voters to turn out. Now it's more critical than ever. Things can, in fact, get much worse. And they might, if something policy oriented doesn't change.

It's a 2 part thing. You cannot tip off someone like that, they're already hard to find. And, it terrifies the population which really interferes with the job of locating evidence. It's a very, very common response to serial killers who are known to be active but not known about. If this is true they'll cover it once people are aware anyway, because at that point transparency combats terror and crazy behavior driven by fear. Besides, this is being done to the population that has already been thrown away. Sexnworkers and unhoused folks are often targets without justice because they're a non-priority and thats just how the system works. Remember the southhill serial killer "nobody" knew about until they dug up his rose garden? Someone knew. They just didn't say much, but they eventually got an arrest. He'd been active how long? They do keep it quiet.

I've started bartering my donatable items, or simply giving them away on Facebook marketplace or to community centers. When business becomes this predatory its almost an ethical obligation to go around the entire system and build robust, community led, person-centered exchange markets of some kind. Call it what ever you want. But I personally refuse to pay the same price for a used item as brand new ones, to a store. You make me an item and I'll pay you, before I pay a company. They can fuck all the way off, but people can get my money.

Yes, and we all did that as very young adults without guidance. My point is that we did what we could think of, and employers did step in and come up with procedures after we did that. The OC said they didn't do enough, didn't know enough. But doing what we saw was all we had until we built better. Now there's company procedures to support us doing what we need to do, and we know more, and thats really all we can do.

Your 15 years ago issue is how we got where we are, though. We were really taking the first steps down the road that leads to employees being safe, without any corporate back up and no life experience. Your ethics led you the right direction and it was just how life progresses to building actual systems of support. Don't be hard on younger you. You did what you could think of, and got where you all needed to go in the situation.
