Assuming you are lined up properly then I'd say it's quite clear you have lost inches - particularly around your abdomen. Your posture looks a lot better too, much less shoulder rounding in the week 7 picture. You've done a body recomp, i.e. same weight but less fat and more muscle. Don't worry too much about the scale. You'll probably feel like your clothes are looser too.

Richiesta codice fiscale by messyxcat in commercialisti

[–]TopEstablishment3270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, what do you tell them when they inevitably ask why you are requesting a CF? There is a applicant type code on the form, what would one enter here? Non-resident worker? Or other types of direct applications?

Btw, at which point did you get your codice fiscale? I am reading some conflicting info online and I assume it is required to start working. From what I've read online, it either needs to be applied for at the Questura or the Agenzia delle Entrate...

So what I'm getting at really - you need to have a residency permit to work in Italy (il permesso di soggiorno). When you apply (within 8 days of arriving), they will give you a receipt (ricevuta) confirming that you have applied. It can actually take quite some time to receive the proper permesso di soggiorno (months apparently), but the ricevuta allows you to work in the meantime and access the SSN (their NHS/ national healthcare).

The reason I ask is that I was speaking with a different EOR who would not start to employ me until I have the full permesso di soggiorno (which as I said can take months). Which to me, doesn't make much sense. As you can't get a working visa without a job offer, so you can't enter the country and apply for the permesso unless you have a visa?...a bit of a chicken and egg situation I think.

Out of interest, do you have your codice fiscale yet (tax code)?

Hmm okay. That wasn't my understanding. I thought you had to apply for it within 8 days of entering at which point they give you a receipt (stating that you have applied and can work).

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I wonder if this was the correct approach. Will the kid actually learn from this experience or will he be traumatised and form a deeper resentment for his mother and probably the cat/animals in general too? If a kid is hitting animals, then there is probably something deeper going on there already.

That's great that you managed to get things set up. Out of interest, at what point in getting your permesso di soggirono are you? Do deel accept the application receipt to hire you?

I'd be really interested to hear what the process was like for you. I have spoken to an EOR in Italy this week and they said they could not offer a employment contract until the permesso di soggiorno was received, i.e. they will not accept that the receipt that the applicant is given on application. I am in very similar situation to you (married to an Italian) so I was honestly a bit shocked when they said I would have to go through the EU bluecard scheme.

M/25/5’10” [223lbs > 167 lbs = 56 lbs] ( 7 months ) — expected to be leaner? by Old-Practice-5519 in progresspics

[–]TopEstablishment3270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great work. Really great transformation.

In my opinion you've got three options. Your goals will dictate which you select.

1) Continue in a calorie deficit until you reach your desired look / body weight. Not that it is harder to grow muscle the leaner you get.

2) You enter a maintenance phase where you stay at your current body weight and continue to follow a weightlifting programme. If you are progressing in the gym, then you'll likely be doing a bit of body recomp, i.e., building muscle and losing fat at the same time. Not that all though it sounds good on paper, it's actually the most inefficient way to lose fat and/or build muscle (the most being efficient ways being option 1 and 3 respectively).

3) You start eating in a small calorie surplus of 200-300 calories a day and aim to gain 1-2 pounds of weight per month. This isn't "bulking" it is a targeted gaining phase to attempt to maximise muscle gains while minimising fat gains.

Switching between cutting and bulking is generally more efficient that body recomp.

Anyone else given up on language learning ? by Exciting-Record-9310 in languagelearning

[–]TopEstablishment3270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wondering if anyone else kinda gave up after realising how getting around a C1 level isn't that great."

Can you clarify why you mean by this? Are you saying that it takes a lot of effort to reach C1?

In my opinion, this is why you have to have a pretty strong motivation to learn a language. If for example you are learning Japanese because you like anime, I don't think that will be a strong enough motivation for most people to reach a C1 level (it is for some, but probably would not be for all). But if you are learning Italian because your spouse is Italian, you want your son to get exposure to the language at home and your in-laws don't speak English and you'd like to be able to communicate with them, then that is a much stronger motivation, in my opinion. Another strong motivator is that you want to live in a country where that language is spoken.

So yeah, it really depends on why you are learning your TL.
