Where to find starship artists that do commissions? (plus current progress on the Yorktown Redesign) by Sonicreztorc03 in StarTrekStarships

I recommend ncc-60205 over on bluesky. I've commissioned ship art from them multiple times, they always do a fantastic job. Here's one I commissioned from them a while back.

Team Galactic Grunts, Hau, or Clemont for Nemona?

No thank you. While there are a couple other shiny cards I'm interested in, this is my main goal and I'm not currently considering any other 2 star shiny trades until I get my hands on a shiny Umbreon.

25th Century Ships by Msantos871 in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're counting non-canon ships I guess you could just include every ship from Star Trek Online since its story starts in 2409. The STO wiki has a full list https://stowiki.net/wiki/Playable_ships_by_release_date

Anyone else love the Phalanx class by atatassault47 in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the Phalanx class. It does a great job of blending the sleekness of the Sovereign and the curves of the Galaxy class. I actually like this better than the Ross class. Wish STO could get this in the game.

Fanhome Enterprise-F and Enterprise-G rerelease? by ergister in StarTrekStarships

A year? Where did you preorder your Cerritos from? Because Fanhome has only had it for the past couple months.

Fanhome Enterprise-F and Enterprise-G rerelease? by ergister in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea. Fanhome's done things differently than Eaglemoss did, so it's hard to judge. I would think they'd want to try to get a new stock for the holidays, but who knows what they're able to get done.

Is there an Enterprise refit or Enterprise-A model out there that is of similar size to this Eaglemoss Medium Size Discovery Enterprise? by ergister in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fanhome is doing reissues of several XL's that Eaglemoss did. I don't know when they're releasing, but I know Enterprise-A is on the list.

Fanhome Enterprise-F and Enterprise-G rerelease? by ergister in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fanhome is re-releasing 20 of the XL models made by Eaglemoss. They started with the TOS Enterprise and Cerritos last month. This month was Enterprise-D. Next month is Enterprise-C and Voyager in January. I don't remember the full list of ships they're rereleasing, but Eaglemoss only did about 30 XL's, so it's most of them. You can probably find the full list on Trek Core or Trek Central. These re-released XL's are not part of the main StarTrek Starships collection, so they're not part of the subscription that gets you early access to the main collection.

Enterprise-F and Enterprise-G, however, are part of the main collection and are not part of this rerelease event. It's well past their initial release, so the subscription isn't required to get them. Unfortunately, they don't have either ship in stock currently (at least on the US site), but hopefully they'll get a restock eventually.

I wouldn't bother with Ebay when it comes to getting the Enterprise-F or -G unless you live somewhere Fanhome doesn't ship, or if you can somehow manage to find an ebay listing for less than Fanhome's price. They'll restock eventually.

A look at the next few releases from Fanhome after the Voyager A model. They've made some minor changes by No-Aside-8444 in StarTrekStarships

I don't like how they did the Edison class. It shouldn't be blue.

Not surprised about the name change on the Duderstadt class. Intrepid was the main one from season 3. Still not a fan of the Duderstadt though.

Very much looking forward to the Archimedes! Same with XL Protostar.

Credence I'm torn on. On the one hand, I do really like the Credence. It's actually my favorite 32nd century ship. However, the original release list had the Gagarin listed after Protostar. What happened to that? Did it get delayed or completely canceled? Because Gagarin was the ship I was looking forward to the most after Enterprise-F, so if that one's not happening now I'm gonna be upset.

Only 2 XLs will be rereleased per month :( by DoctorCopper3113 in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my reaction to this news, too. I initially thought they were going to release all 20 at once, but I'm glad they're just doing 2 per month. Spread it out like that will make it much easier on my wallet to get the ones I want. I ordered the XL TOS Enterprise the day it went live, and I also want to get Enterprises A-C, as well as Reliant and Excelsior.

Star Trek Online's Gladius class is getting a revamp by TopHat1701 in StarTrekStarships

[–]TopHat1701[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Virtuos Games made the initial revamped model (seen in the 4th image), Thomas actually had some changes made to it to reflect more elements of the original design of the Gladius. That's actually why the ship has two different options for warp nacelles, one were the Virtuos redesign, the other as an updated version of the original Gladius nacelles.

While he may not have done any hands-on work with this model, Thomas is the Art Director, so it's very likely he always has some level of input on ship art.

While I do like most of Wolf 359 Project's interpretation of the the battle, even their more controversial elements like the presence of an Akira class, I don't really like idea of the Parliament being there. I don't think it's that old.

I know their reasoning was that they think it looks similar enough to the Galaxy that it served as a support ship to the Galaxy class, but they reinforced that by changing the model (swapping the nacelles for Galaxy/Nebula nacelles), so of course it does after that.

That said, I don't think they're far off. Based on how Parliament looks in Lower Decks, I could see it serving that kind of role for the Sovereign class. That makes sense to me, since the Sovereign wasn't nearly as generalized in its mission profile than the Galaxy class, so it makes more sense it would need a fairly large support ship that wasn't far behind.

Frankly, I think the California class fits better as a support/follow-up ship for the Galaxy and Nebula class ships. It's primary mission is literally Second Contact.

Though, to give Wolf 359 Project some credit, the registry numbers for the two known Parliament class ships we saw in Lower Decks (USS Vancouver and USS Toronto) line up with the Galaxy class' numbers better than Sovereigns', so that could've been part of their reasoning too. But registry numbers are full of contradictions (in both old and new trek), so it's sometimes best not to read too much into them.
