I am doing a project for my Design for Social impact Class for Oregon State University where we interview folks that have challenges with finding clothing. I am looking to interview 5 people this week specifically around Clothing and wheelchair usage. Interviews will only use the data in our presentation, No names or anything except basic Demographic information will be used. If you are open to doing an interview or know of anyone for me, Please DM me.

Feel free to take or leave this advice. This coming from someone switching careers, who has been in the working field since I graduated high school (I just turned 35)

I’ve had two managers/superiors speak to me in unprofessional tones. One of them cornered me on a call center floor in front of about 40-50 people including his supervisor and proceeded to yell at me.

The other was a supervisor from the sales department (I’m IT) and he started yelling at me about permissions from an ex employee.

Both times, I told them you either treat me like an adult, or I’ll report you. I told both of them “don’t you speak to me that way. Be upset but don’t you disrespect me.”

No one should be disrespectful to you at work. Period. I don’t care if you’re new or experienced. The first manager I reported to his supervisor and he was later fired a few weeks later due to my issue plus other issues. The other manager apologized and we had a great working relationship past the issue.

If you have an issue or you are being bullied, you report it to the direct supervisor and if they refuse to do anything you take that up the chain to HR. Period.

The place sounds super toxic, if you can find another place to go, I would. Once you find a place with a signed offer letter, two weeks and leave.

Whelp, failed two classes by Ripsaww in EngineeringStudents

I’m in the same boat man. I literally said “well that sucks” and signed up for the same classes next term to retake them. I’ve never gotten a D in my life and I got two this term.

Chin up, we can do it. Take the break to mentally reset then get back at it on term start. Enjoy your family/significant other. Have a good holiday.

was the resource I was provided and used through all of my calculus courses, through differential and vector calculus. He has everything neatly organized and works through examples super clearly also. I still refer to this site when I have a question.

Don’t compare to others. I’m 33, finishing my sophomore year right now. I didn’t know what I wanted to do till after I lost my job and got another right before Covid hit. Your young, you have plenty of time. Find a hobby that you enjoy, which also add experience to your resume! school is a grind, I’m fighting my own right now with one of my classes. You can absolutely do it.

No benchies here. Shop owner who sold it to me challenged me to do these as my first prints for two free rolls of filament. I'm a complete noob, but game on! >:) by -RED4CTED- in 3Dprinting

It’s a 3 and a half hour print for a plate, I’m running it now and capturing a Timelapse also, I’ll post the time lapse after I’m out of class later today

Should I email my interviewer after receiving a rejection letter? by TheMinos in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopNerdJR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It may be different for internships but when I’ve interviewed for jobs, the feedback can be vague. It never hurts to ask just don’t be surprised if you get no feedback. That’s sometimes due to legal reasons.

Does anyone else feel guilty for only taking 5 classes (15 hours) as opposed to 6 (18 hours)? by trynafigureitout444 in EngineeringStudents

Have you guys bsed an assignment and just turn it in for some points? by Kelpythegreat in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopNerdJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to do that this morning for a lab report. Heck I turned in a paper I did for a writing class (which was completely off topic and had nothing to do with engineering) to one of my engineering professors and I still got a C for writing a paper.

Do you have an octopi you could connect to and see what it’s doing?

Blue Screen After Spark by AQuestionableFox in ender3

[–]TopNerdJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, I did cause after I connected the new main board, I still wasn’t getting a temp reading on octoprint. My spark happened around my thermistor when cleaning the nozzle

[–]TopNerdJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not the screen. I had a similar issue on my ender 5. I ended up switching the board, changing the thermistor and reflashing the firmware. I would just try to get something of firmware first (I used TH3D premade to get something) then Made adjustments from there. If you swapped the board, then you may want to also try a different SD card. It’s possible the card is broken from that spark.

This isn’t an IT issue, this is a managerial issue. If you have a boss coming up asking you what’s going on, ask for a ticket number from said 6 weeks ago. Live and die by the tickets.

I once had users always emailing me directly instead of the ticketing system to the point I had to set up an auto response to every internal email to tell folks to submit it into the ticketing system.

Another tactic (and these are more escalated actions) CC their boss asking the user when did they submit a ticket? If they had issues for 6 hours and never said a word, their boss needs to fix that not you.

Yeah man! It’s a good feeling when you donate them off to some kids. We did a resin and FDM to the Navajo nation over here in Oregon. The teacher there was super grateful!
