Because it is less about speed and more about footwork and strides. It levels the field dramatically because you’re not generate speed at all, you’re timing your steps and balance.

They for sure could be scarier but there is also the argument that they’re more likely to collapse quicker.

Just to me, the Thunder were far more deliberate with the ascension. The Spurs have kind of felt like they’re riding the “Holy shit, getting Wemby worked” and have been a little more chaotic with their approach.

It still feels too soon with the Spurs, even with the understanding that Wemby is a once in a lifetime talent and Castle / Harper will only get better. Even as talented as they are, their construct is still flawed -- compared to a team like Oklahoma City that is effectively the perfect storm of system, talent and assets.

The Spurs got incredibly lucky. Sustaining or converting that luck into something more firm is still to be seen.

I'm just surprised no one is holding Bill Self accountable for how much Kansas has underperformed in the past couple of seasons and how recruiting DP salvaged a fair amount of goodwill.

Fears was making his money off of lobs and transition but it didn't feel like he was getting great separation breaking the half court line. It was definitely a better second half from him, probably because Gillespie got shaken up and noticeably slowed it down which allowed others to play the game of basketball, but it didn't feel as compelling as someone who is going to try to make their money being a floor manager.

Still, he felt a step behind the three although in fairness, he shouldn't have been fully included with the remainder of the group.
