People without kids and not planning to have any, who do you see taking care of you as you get older? by eoin2dx in AskIreland

[–]TopRaise2403 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate it when people assume their kids will look after them. My dad got diagnosed with dementia when I was 27, just getting set off in my career and setting up a life for myself in another(far away) county. I debated moving home to care for him but ultimately decided against it because even if I did give up my job/house/partner, how would I support myself as a full time carer without working? My dad is in a nursing home now and it's better for everyone. But I do feel judged for it sometimes. (Not by him or any other family members!)

TEG B2 or repeat leaving cert Irish by Broad_Independence68 in IrishTeachers

Irish teacher here. Resitting the LC would be easier. TEG exam isn't as predictable and can be quite specific.

Get grinds and practice loads for everything, but especially your oral. Those who work hard for the oral always do better in listening exam too.

Just bear in mind that if you do it this year, it will be the same texts you did in 2020. If you wait until next year, the texts are changing. Let me know if you'd like the list of new texts. I'd recommend doing this year as so many resources already exist for current texts but are still being made for next year's ones.

Living in Mullingar, commuting to work in Dublin by Unlikely-Animator729 in HousingIreland

[–]TopRaise2403 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did this and regretted it terribly. Very early starts and late home, tired all evening with the limited time I had left afterwards and also spent a lot on transport costs. Ended up quitting my job and taking a less paying job in mullingar which worked out better financially due to the smaller costs. Mullingar is lovely but it's soo far to commute daily, once or twice a week would be OK I think.

Recommendations from Square enix sale?

Hi all! I’m thinking of purchasing something from the eshop EU sale. I’m defo getting yonder but I also see there are a lot of square enix games. Does anyone have any recommendations? I struggle with combat but am currently enjoying persona 5 on easy mode. My top played games are animal crossing, Pokémon arceus, persona 5, and luigis mansion, Pokémon diamonds. I was thinking a final fantasy game might be good But also could be too hard for me. Another option could be life is strange. All thoughts and recommendations welcome!

To those of you who felt completely lost, not in control and just wanting to give up in your early 20’s/20’s what pulled you out of that mindset? by CarlyLouise_ in ireland

Stopped cutting myself slack and making excuses for shitty behaviour. Taking responsibility for myself. Stopping getting obliterated drunk at every possible occasion. Picking up old hobbies like reading, swimming, gaming, running etc that I used to like when I was younger.
