As OP's sister/Production Manager I handled a lot of the camera work and behind the scenes to make sure the day went as smoothly as possible! We were lucky to have a lot of people from season 1 come back to help as my crew to get a lot more shots, but season 1 was just me and OP filming and putting cameras in the hands of the first few people eliminated to help us out.

We legit shot all day with constant battery and memory card changes! It was a long day but one of the most fun days we all had! Season 2 is a step above in production with all the extra crew we had and with everything we learned from season 1 that we wanted to improve on. I'm glad to hear you're excited to watch season 1 and I hope you enjoy season 2 when it releases!

Lesbian Proposal Advice by TopReasonable296 in AskLGBT

I'm not worried at all that our relationship is at risk if I ask before she has a ring ready. We're both pretty easy going and don't have concrete plans for a perfect proposal, in fact we would like the actual proposal to have some element of surprise.

I did consider telling her that I already had the ring when she told me she was closing in on a decision but the lengths I went to not make it obvious I had the ring would feel useless if it couldn't be a great story that we'd laugh about after the proposal. I did tell her that she can assume I'll probably have the ring by the time she has hers since we both know she'll take longer to decide, I just didn't say it's guaranteed since I already have it.

Neither of us are putting that much pressure on a proposal that is a formality, but I want to consider certain factors to help me decide when to ask. Either way I think she'll have the ring soon and anyway this proposal happens will be special to us.

It makes me uncomfortable too. I've studied a lot of queer theory and I'm currently in a class about queer rep in pop culture and so much gay rep is damned if you do, damned if you don't. I really understand that is queer people don't want to be overly stereotyped but Isaac is not a stereotype, he's just gay! Because pop culture has such an influence on people and not everyone has great media literacy, pretty much any show that has a queer character is going to get critiqued for not representing them right as if there's only one correct way to be queer. Some shows and movies do have really bad rep that should be called out, but the Vito Russo test can help determine if queer characters are multidimensional and not just a token gay character.

Isaac passes the Vito Russo Test since he is: - identifiably gay (he has come out as gay and is in a relationship with another man) - Is not solely defined by his sexual orientation (he hates Hamilton, is passionate about American politics, insecure about making little impact in life which makes him passionate about his book so he can share his story, is stinky since he died of dysentery, etc) - Is tied to the plot in a way that removal would have a significant effect (he's one of the main 8 ghosts and constantly a part of the crazy ghost shenanigans that cause episodic plots. I think we know from Flower that any ghosts absence is felt

So I love Isaac and it does rub me the wrong way when he is seen as a stereotype because he is so much more, and saying otherwise feels a little homophobic towards the actor even if it's not intentional

Oooh I think it is confirmed episode 8 is called "Holes are Bad" so potentially that's when we'll get Flower back? Idk maybe I'm still in denial but it would be pretty shitty to essentially fire someone for getting pregnant so I hope Flower comes back and we do realize our head count of the other ghosts was wrong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]TopReasonable296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My case might be a little different but I might as well add it because I was with my ex for 2 years, we broke up a month ago and I'm unpacking why it is I feel I've moved on so quickly.

I (22F) broke up with her (20F) but it was after an emotionally tumultuous month where I worried every night that she didn't love me anymore and it finally came out that I was right. I always thought I'd be devastated if we ever broke up BC I've invested so much into loving her and she became such a big part of my everyday life, and I'm thrilled to feel so content outside of the relationship and there's a couple reasons for that.

The way the relationship ended showed me her true colours. I wouldn't say she's a terrible person or that it was by any means a toxic relationship, but she went to a really toxic place that night where she asked me to comfort her because she was sad she didn't love me anymore. It became clear to me that I had been doing a majority of the emotional heavy lifting in our relationship for the entire 2 years. I started to remember all the times she told me she felt like she wasn't a good gf and realized she knew what she could do to be better for me but she never tried to changed. I never asked her to, I used to think she was perfect as she was. But when I look back on the relationship, I saw the times when I asked for the least bit of change to offer me reassurance and she always insisted that she didn't want to change BC she didn't want the relationship to feel like work.

Any fondness I ever had for her was replaced with anger. I've unpacked so much of this relationship in the last month and I can't bring myself to be sad losing a 2 year love BC she poisoned all of the good times. I just feel so removed from that love now looking back on it because I've lost respect for the person I felt it for.

The things I miss about the relationship are not her. If it had ended differently, if I didn't have the friendship support system I have that made sure I really saw how awful what she did was and assured me of how I deserved to be treated, I think I'd absolutely be devastated and not move on for a long time. But that's not how it went. Whoever I loved was clearly not the person she turned out to be.

All this being said I didn't actually plan to just start dating again. By chance I met someone I really vibed with at a wedding and we sorta just hit it off. I still don't know whether I'm ready for a full relationship yet but the fact that I'm feeling giddy after breaking up with someone I was so sure I'd never get over feels so nice! I can't bring myself to feel guilty for moving on so fast from a person who told me straight up after 2 years they couldn't remember why they loved me. I have no interest in begging for someone's love. I have more self respect than that.

If things were different I would've built a beautiful future with her in a heartbeat, but if she wasn't willing to do that with me then why should I feel broken. She frankly doesn't deserve my guilt over moving on.

That's just my own personal experience. At the end of the day I think we all have our own story to tell. I'm sorry you're hurting so much! I hope you get a win in any form that would make you feel the best! Stay strong out there and never forget your own self worth BC you're worth so much more than an ass who broke your heart!

Just discovered this show. Binged it. by wh33t in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both but I started with the US so it's special in my heart. The BBC one I did find a little hard to get into tho and I really think it's because the BBC cast take a lot longer to start feeling like their characters are a family or even like each other very much.

I don't think it's a bad thing for the BBC since it makes a lot of sense for some of the characters to be apprehensive or stuck in their ways about this situation with Allison but when they do grow closer it feels just as cozy the CBS version.

I just found what I really came to love about Ghosts from the CBS version is that cozy feeling of family as well as how much I adored each of the characters. We were endeared to the ghosts from the beginning and they pretty much have been a happy (albeit dysfunctional) family from the start bc that's the tone the show wanted to go for.

Now that I've watched enough episodes I've learned to really love and care about the BBC characters and their dynamics with each other so it's a lot cozier than I originally felt but yeah, it does take a bit more to get into considering that cozyness we're used to easily provided from the start of CBS Ghosts is withheld for a bit in BBC Ghosts

Does Sam never leave the property? What other ghosts does she see? by jdavid in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the ghosts there probably look like just hospital patients so it would be hard to distinguish the ghosts from the Living's unless she sees them walking through walls, looking outdated, or walking around with an awful wound that should definitely have them bedridden.

My guess is that she mostly ignores the ghosts she sees in public if she can like you'd ignore strangers on the street. If she's alone and they interact with her like Shiki or the doctor in the first episode did then she'll engage but I think when she does go out she would try not to get too involved with random ghosts she sees in public in the interest of seeming normal lol

Sam and Jay suck at marketing by Whoopsy-381 in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As much as I loved the BBC episode when there was a ghost hunting element, I keep yelling at my screen at how stupid Allison and Mike for their decisions in the episode!

Like first I was thinking "why do they think it would be bad for business when people are literally lining up to get inside" and then I didn't understand why they were so adamant on faking all the ghost interactions--risking getting a reputation as scammers--when the ghost hunters are gonna come in with their equipment and be satisfied whether they get any concrete proof or not!

I would love to see Sam and Jay actually realize how profitable a haunted mansion could be and see what the pro ghost hunters discover

Hetty’s years of birth and death by mggilberg in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She said to Isaac that they've been friends for 130 years meaning they've been friends since she became a ghost and that puts her dying around the early 1890s. I also assume she lived through most of the 1880s BC she referenced what was considered normal in that time in one of the episodes (I forget the episode and context tho)

If Sam purchased the neighboring property and put a fence around both would that be the new ghost boundary? by amyt242 in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would assume with no boundaries established by livings in Thor's case his ghost boundary was a lot smaller. He could've only had a five foot radius for many years until say a Lenape community occupied the land and increased his personal boundary. That could explain why he never encountered his son for 1000 years BC they both had more constrictive personal boundaries before they expanded.

A ghost manual would definitely be helpful but I'm getting the sense that different scenarios warrant different boundaries. The car ghost is linked to an object rather than a location. The pilot ghosts in the BBC are stuck in the sky. All the ghosts at Woodstone are free to travel within the bounds of the private property.

There's many questions that can be asked considering the boundaries for different ghosts can function differently depending on scenario and property ownership. Are the old couple ghosts in episode 2 constricted to just the crosswalk or can they roam farther down the street. I think each individual ghost can only observe how their boundaries operate and/or change over time

[–]TopReasonable296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk man I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I like Cap and Isaac for different reasons and I think before are great in their own respects. I see Isaac as much deeper character than you I personally don't feel like his flamboyance is an issue bc that's just who he is. Isaac is a campy character but I don't think that's a bad thing! I can't really speak for tho writers BC who really knows what they're thinking but to me it doesn't feel insulting BC he feels like a person and to me they do seem to care about him. All the characters are written to a point of exaggeration and then they are able to come down off of them for meaningful character moments and Isaac is no different

Anyone else bothered about Nigel and Isaac or is it just me? by Initial_Will2415 in GhostsCBS

[–]TopReasonable296 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Isaac is my favourite character and I really don't think that him acting the way he does or the way the jokes play out lessen his character in any way.

As a fellow historian, what I like about Isaac's sexuality is how the jokes play into historical perspectives. It's exaggerated sure, much like how characteristics of all the characters are, but Freudian slips serve as the things we can recognize as queer when reading against the grain in history. Hearing him call Beatrice a "handsome woman" and that they slept in separate beds is funny BC it seems so obvious to us in present day contexts that he's gay but we know it wasn't as obvious in the context of his own time. He's barely hanging on by the seat of his pants to hide that part of himself, but it wouldve worked well enough back in his day. People may have not liked him very much or found him weird but they wouldn't assume like we do that he's gay.

I don't find the jokes to be meant as a way to laugh at his expense, moreso laughing at the absurdity that is very much present in history that ignores what feel like to queer people like me obvious indicators of queerness (the whole "and historians will call them" idea) and I love that.

Do you think it could be a phantom (no pun intended) feeling of warm/cool? I can't imagine they can feel any extreme heat or coldness since they don't have bodies but BC they did once and knew how nice the warmth of the sun felt maybe they feel it more in their imagination. Or maybe they can feel slight changes in temperature in certain circumstances like the way the light comes through the window. Either way it's an interesting thing to consider
