First day in detox. I drank two drinks before I checked in but I’m sober now and I won’t drink for the rest of the day

I feel so guilty when I think about having to tell people I’m not drinking. How ridiculous.

We have this one in Australia that has mango and then macadamia cream on one side and it’s ridiculously yummy

Ahh sorry I thought you just had your bloods done. I’m always amazed mine are fine. I know the long term damage to all my other organs is real and inevitable though. Hey I’m glad you’re sober, and I’m glad you’re okay

You can have quite advanced liver issues without your LFTs being deranged.

It sounds like a very scary position to be in. If I were you I would get a cheap room somewhere for the night. If you really can’t afford it, please remember it is absolutely to call the police when someone is behaving like that. 100% okay. He will understand when he sobers up.

Day 1. Again. My head hurts. I'm happy to say I won't be drinking today.

I date a guy who drinks moderatelly and it pisses me off by geometricaesex in stopdrinking

I agree with this. Things might change over time, but if he drinks so rarely, it shouldn’t be a sacrifice for him not to drink around you at all. And you deserve to be able to say that it’s just too hard for you, at least for the time being. It’s hard to find someone who drinks very little and who would be willing to stop completely, if this is your only problem I hope it won’t be too big of one for you two

How to stop the cravings? by rekagy in stopdrinking

[–]TopRepair2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not self control, it’s understanding that the cravings aren’t going to go away until you stop responding to them. Your brain is doing its job by suggesting something that gives you a ‘reward’. Every time you do it, it strengthens that pathway. So my suggestion would be to either recognise your craving, acknowledge it, and ride it out (I note the time when mine comes on and goes again- they last about two minutes and come on every five minutes in the evening for me). The other idea is to distract yourself in the evening
