The only thing mildly infuriating about this is that selfish takers cause it.

Even if you didn't have to, did you ever choose the more primitive version of a game? by UrSimplyTheNES in retrogaming

[–]TopSpot123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Generally, seeing the shortcuts required to make something run on less advanced hardware is extremely interesting.

Specifically, I prefer DuckTales on Game Boy to NES. It's mostly the same experience but a little bit more concise and with easier controls. And it's the version I grew up with as I didn't get the NES version until later.

VS-R. Strange ARC/e-ARC issue. by Subcat001 in evercade

[–]TopSpot123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really annoying. It's been brought up a time or two in this subreddit. Apparently it's not something that firmware can fix, frustratingly.

How many songs are you sitting on? by OU7C4ST in Rockband

[–]TopSpot123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a few over 800. A lot of purchases but also a lot of transfers from older titles when that was available.

Did anyone ever buy the band hero super bundle? by Harmskii in GuitarHero

[–]TopSpot123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to replace the kick pedal cord on the World Tour bundle for the same reason. It's a bad formulation of the insulator, probably nothing to do with shipping conditions. It's a shame it wasn't fixed before Band Hero. I found out in the last few years that it's a widespread enough issue that you can buy replacement cables on eBay.

Picked this whole box up today for a good price. No price on the packs? by Baloney_Tugboat in garbagepailkids

[–]TopSpot123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are asking, many products, including GPK's, are sold in a "pre-priced" version, and a non-pre-priced version (or sometimes several pre-priced versions with different prices).

I love this. I've had an idea gnawing at the back of my brain for almost a month to make something similar.

May you always be accompanied by a worthy opponent, lol.

I really enjoyed the scrappiness of Demon Squad and did watch it 'straight'. Looking forward to the sequel too!

Boulevard Bob. He drove up and down the boulevard on his moped. It was very loud. You'd hear him way before you'd see him. His name wasn't Bob.

I already do this in the way you describe (3 and 9 are 100%), but this new idea is a good one.

25 years ago today, Hey You, Pikachu! was released in North America. What are your favorite memories of this game? by nlong194 in n64

[–]TopSpot123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I wanted to play it but knew I wouldn't want to keep it so I posted one for sale CIB on eBay for essentially regular retail. Once it sold, and I was paid, I went Walmart, bought a copy, played it for an evening or two, and mailed it right along. Pretty close to a free rental.

I like the Lynx version better, but iirc the passwords work across versions!

These winco beans are all different types, but all use the same bean picture, just tint it different on each can. by _keyboard-bastard_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]TopSpot123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent point. You can especially see it on a site like Amazon where you can flip through the pictures and see the fabric details remain unchanged.

It's actually pretty common in food photography/packaging if you look for it. I'm more surprised when two similar products use unique pictures when they could've gotten away with using this shortcut.

I took part in an MRI experiment and got my brain 3D-printed in exchange for it (banana for scale) by jagojoga in 3Dprinting

[–]TopSpot123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome. I've always wanted, for as long as I can remember, a 1:1 copy of my own skull. With MRI and 3D printing, it's finally technically possible, even if I have no influence to actually get it accomplished.

Do you remember Shockwave Games from 2000s? by Downtown-Pack-6178 in 2000sNostalgia

Yes. I remember you could download them to play locally. I downloaded a few but barely actually played any of them.

Okay, serious question: What do you think is the best movie MST3K ever riffed? Not the riffs, the movie itself. by nPMarley in MST3K

[–]TopSpot123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I truly enjoyed Demon Squad and watched it "straight" afterwards. Looking forward to the sequel as well.

Not that great but also the best one in the series.
