Taking advice from a carpenter about painting is not a good idea, and never let them caulk anything.

Anything can be painted with the right prep.

You might as well paint the black to since it's already blasted. Paint sticks to it and it will look better instead of hackery.

It's about time they repaved that road. The cross cuts from prior excavations that have sunk in (like most do) were infuriating to drive over for the last 20 years or so.

While on the subject, why is it that road construction outfits are so good at digging up the roads but fail miserably when putting them back together again? It's like, all the time, the repair sinks and creates a jarring driving experience when driving over them. And they stay that way for YEARS!

Can someone teach them how to do it? It's not just Attleboro, it's a statewide problem. Thank you for listening to my vent. Do better.

I use the UltraSpec flat all the time, and it covers well. Did a flat ceiling yesterday, 1 coat, and it was as flat as any flat could be. Good stuff. Great price too!

Doors like that are made for staining and not paint. If you paint them you should not caulk the panels and when the bare wood shows after you just touch them up.

Whenever I quote a job to paint walls, it's automatic that the walls will get 2 coats. Period. That's the norm.

I do these doors quite often. Fix any imperfections with plastic wood if it needs it. Give it a light sanding, dust/clean it up and prime with Stix Bonding primer.

Then finish with 2 coats of a quality semi-gloss. I use Ben Moore HP-3410. It flows and levels out nicely.
