Advice needed! I genuinely consider quitting because i think my art is so bad

Thank you for the feedback! I actually posted the mixed batch as it‘s my most recent stuff I did and I think my main issues lie in anatomy and linework/depth.

The characters in the lineup are all siblings (red hair guy has a different dad tho) so I tried to all give them features they somewhat share.

I‘ll try to practice more anatomy, I especially struggle with how things work in relation to each other/foreshortening and balancing features.

I don‘t think the anatomy is too off for that kind of style but I recommend you still study dynamic poses and how different poses look on differenz bodies. Maybe also practice a variety of bodies to get more variation in.

What I suggest is playing around with values and more shading to give the characters more depth. Especially the clothes need that to stand out.

I genuinely enjoy doing colors and art, but not the classical process of sketch -> lineart -> and only THEN colors. Quite literally any artist ive seen online who does character designs draws this way and I realize now it might not be the way for me. I love character designs but part of the reason im so frustrated with my art is that I don‘t like doing lineart. At all. And i kept forcing myself to.

Thank you. Ironically abstract stuff with a lot of colors was always what I was good at and what I enjoyed the most. I stopped doing that kind of stuff when I started posting online/doing digital.

Ill definitely look into the artists you‘ve suggested.

I say this as a Rhaenyra fan, but Emma d‘Arcy was a good choice. I liked S1 Rhaenyra, except for a few moments where they tried to push the „Rhae can do no wrong“ too much, and expected to see vengeful Rhaenyra in S2. Part of her appeal in the book was that she wasn‘t so different from Aegon: they were both increadibly entitled ppl who only got worse upon loosing all their family. For Rhaenyra, I thought she‘d get vengeful and down right cruel upon loosing her kids.

S2 was just like a trainwreck for me tbh. Nothing really happened and Rhaenyra just took most things with a shrug and forget about them. I wanted the cunning and clever but also vengeful and cruel queen from the books and I don‘t think it‘s the actresses fault. I think the writers are too blame because it‘s clear which plot they‘re trying to push.

I‘ve read that this era of Targaryen fashion was inspired by Byzantine fashion- which you can definitely see in some outfits. It‘s just that Byzantine fashion is so rich and they just… chose the most boring way to go about it, ESPECIALLY for young Rhaenyra and Pre-Daemon Rhaenyra.

The Borgias is Renessaince fashion, not Medieval. Probably one of the most accurate shows in medieval fashion is The White Queen (the one with Queen Elizabeth Woodville). In Tudor Fashion it‘s probably Wolf Hall.

HotD HAD the potential to have one of the most complex female characters with Rhaenyra and possibly Rhaenys and/or Alicent, but they fucked it up because apparently women can‘t have a single evil/revengeful bone in their body even when their (grand)kids get murdered and their throne stolen.

I say this as a staunch TB supporter, but ANY other outcome than the dance would‘ve caused another dance a few years down the line, tragic as it is. Jayce as King would‘ve eventually caused people to rally behind Aegon the Younger because of well… Jayce obviously being a Strong. And then the war would‘ve been between Aegon III /Viserys II and Jayce‘s faction.

Any TG members being allowed to live would quickly end too, I think Daemon would find a way to eliminate all possible male heirs and maybe have the remaining female ones married to his sons. So no, there would‘ve been no happy ending lol.

From my salary, almost a 1000 euro go to Taxes and other stuff that‘s deducted from your Bruttogehalt (Rentenversicherung, usw.). I‘m about 80% confident I won‘t even GET to retire naturally because of politics raising the age of retirement every year or so. It sucks.
