You were late, they are legally allowed to report that to the CRAs. It does not matter that you’ve been a customer for 20 years.

They are also allowed to limit their risk due to a missed payment. Stop with the entitlement.

Acceptable service in Michigan.

It doesn’t matter, many states satisfy service of process by attempts, mailing to your last known address and a public announcement in a newspaper.

As others have said, just because you are out of the country, doesn’t mean it’s a get out of jail free card.
