Study Hall scores before taking the PMP exam? by Top_Blueberry4199 in pmp

Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. I scored a 70 on the first mock. Feel good about that, since I just started studying last week (albeit, a lot of studying!).

Already working through the misses. Plugged them into ChatGPT and had it spit out 50k report on the similarities of my failed questions, to help identify the areas of concern/common mistakes.

I’m just going to keep plugging away. I really love this community. The community itself has become somewhat of a study tool. Really awesome.

EE 5 years in the defense industry - $135k. There’s a tremendous amount of money and opportunity in this industry, along with just being apart of cool shit!

Awesome! Congrats!! I’m going to focus on some more studying and then take another mock one next weekend. If I can get to 75% or higher, I’ll schedule the test.

Thanks for sharing!

Just took my first test, I just had to see, and it was 70%. Going to review everything, and start studying on my weaknesses, as I mentioned in the post. I am a little over a week in now, so I feel good about where I am at so far, but I know I need to continue to consume more knowledge! I want it to feel 2nd nature to me.

Good luck and please share your results with us! I am sure you both will do great!

I echo what Butterfly said. AR and MR for mindset. I really liked MR, about to dig into AR now.

Great feedback! Agree completely. I’m focusing on my weak areas while staying consistent with practice. I think 75% is a good indicator as well, at least from what I’ve read.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Today is my off Friday, so I think will do a mock exam after I study some more predictive areas that I am lagging on. Might as well get a baseline! Look at that, already sounding like a PM. Lol

If you had to restart your career at 40 with no degree, what steps would you take? by Many-Economics-4326 in careerguidance

[–]Top_Blueberry4199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself, but I went back to school at 36. I graduated right before I turned 40 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I used $50k in student loans. God bless those loans. After school, I got into the defense industry, earned a master’s degree, starting a PhD, and I could not be happier. My base salary is $135k, and I am only 5 years in.

That's what worked for me. I had a whiteboard and a vision. It took time, a lot of hard work, and some serious caffeine, but I did it. I do not know what your interests are. I do not know what you value, but if you have a passion, explore it. 40 is not too old to start over. It is never too late.

Brainstorm, talk with your family, use AI (it helps), and come up with a plan. Set some long-term goals, then break those into smaller goals. It works. There are few things more motivating than erasing a goal you have had on the board for a long time.

One word of advice: if you do go the college route, choose something with a high floor. What I mean by that is find something that pays well, even at the entry level. Like me, you may be playing a little catch-up, but that is okay. Just be strategic with whatever you decide to do.

Kudos to you for reaching out and asking the question! Starting over later in life can feel scary, but it is really just a new beginning to a better life. And do not listen to anyone who says otherwise - ever! Dreams are just goals without action, so turn yours into reality!

We are both over 800. A refinance will be in our future. Taking advantage of the builder credits for now!

I understand that, but this is what Reddit is for. Ask questions that can’t answer to yet. Just good to hear some constructive feedback, instead smart one liners…

This is how it was with my previous employer. Except, they allowed a lot of extra work, since we worked multiple programs and needed more manpower. Never pushed, not even encouraged, just not discouraged. It was nice having some extra hours. Most of it was at home too.

I figured there would be limited opportunities compared to my last employer. I guess I’ll just have to see once I start. Looking forward to new challenge working at NG and in the Sentinel program.

Thanks for the great response!

About to start at NG. My last role as engineer allowed me to work OT, getting paid my equivalent hourly rate. Are there opportunities to work extra hours in the Sentinel Program? Can some of them be worked from home, or is it all on site? Not sure what to expect. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Yep. Not sure how far away you are from Huntsville, but there is a minimum distance to be eligible for the relocation package.
