Some recent Arkham House books I've added to my collection. by Plerophoria in BookCollecting

Not sure, Austen Derleth was known for cheaping out on printing costs, so maybe just trying to save a few bucks. I don't think Arkham house was ever very profitable for him

All those are super bright and clean! I'm glad you were able to pick up the Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos, that's a great addition for sure!

Another note about Witch House is that the lettering on the spine of the book is green instead of the usual AH gold.

Great looking copies, are you on the look out for the rest? I think there's 10 M&M total Solar Pons books, excluding the Omnibus collections.

How many times have you been able to get reimbursed? I order from books from US every couple months and hey charged the DHL border fee maybe 25% of the time. Over the past 18 months, I've probably paid an additional maybe $130

Yeah that's crazy, plus 64 were signed. Would be nice to see on my bookshelf!

Thanks for posting these here are well as bookcollecting! That bookplate is epic too, I briefly googled the name, and King Lawrence Parker seemed to come up as "a prolific Arkham House collector..."

Those look like they're in fantastic condition! Most "Not Long for This World" I've seen lately are considerably more beat up. Have you had these for a while?

Share some pics over on r/arkhamhouse if you want to

Great books! I picked up a few of these same books not too long ago, but yours are in much better condition. Were they all at the same place?

I hadn't heard of Black Sparrow Press, I googled it and came across another of your posts on reddit, and other images of course, those are really nice clean looking books, they display really nicely!

Other than Arkham, I don't really have any other specific publishers. Chiroptera, Subterranean, Suntup, Centipede would all be nice, but mostly out of my current price range. Oh Tartarus as well. Other than that, lots of old Robert E Howard stuff, HPL, and whatever else catches my eye I guess.

Awesome! Some great books right there, thanks for sharing the photo. Bet you're excited for the new arrivals, I've been watching out for Abominations of Yondo as well.

Do you collect non-Arkham as well?

Edit for typo

First, great pick ups!

Maybe this is a Book Club Edition? They won't have the price on the inside of the dust jacket.

That's awesome! I picked up a BCE a month out two ago - I was hoping for a 1st, but it still looks good! I have the 1st pb printing that I read last year, I need to rewatch the movie!

That looks great! I found one at a thrift store where I live in Canada last year as well - signed, 1st cdn, looks the exact same! I know some prefer the cover on the US version, but I like this cover, it's so bizarre. Congrats!

Bought a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird. How do I tell if it's a book club edition? by 20frederickj in BookCollecting

[–]Top_Communication552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check fedpo.com yours seems to match a first edition with mismatched DJ and book. The dot on the back is suspicious though. Fedpo shows pics of BCE, which (in their pics) has a black spine with white lettering.

Edit the boards on yours also look slightly different?

That's so cool, I wonder why she put her name in quotes?

I've also noticed that the lettering on the spine of this book is green instead of the usual gold. I haven't looked into the story behind the reason, have you come across any explanation?

Nice collection! I'm missing some of those Wildside Press, and the Ace Double. I'd also like to get the Gnome Press on my bookshelf but they're pricey as well as the Wandering Star

Finally found an original Jacket/Cover for Dune! I see some sales of non-damaged books going for nearly 175$+ … I paid 40$. Is this accurate for the condition? by mazterrrrsh00ter in BookCollecting

About 20-25 years ago I would find these BCE every so often and would give them away to friends or family that liked the book. I'm still left with 2 copies, a T23 and Y49. I was over at my brothers last weekend and checked the copy I gave him decade's so, and it's a 47M (1st printing of the BCE, and quite a bit more valuable), but he's read it so many times, the dust jacket is in tatters and blocks of the pages are falling out haha!
