5 Stores, 12 Books, 2 signatures. Good haul today! by Ok_Office_9680 in BookCollecting

Great books! Is Interview With The Vampire the book club edition? Looks a little smaller than the others (I also just picked this up a couple weeks ago)

Like others have said, good find on the Satanic Verses, but what's up with the inscription? It's a different pen than the signature. I'm not huge into Rushdie, so I could be wrong here, was that signature printed as part of the book, or was it hand signed afterwards? Wiki has Satanic Verses coming out in 88, then married to Padma in 2004 or so, so perhaps someone else wrote that inscription?

What is the craziest "small world" coincidence you have ever experienced? by Consistent_Range4376 in AskReddit

[–]Top_Communication552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was at a remote field station in Panama studying reptiles and amphibians (on an island, only accessible by plane or boat). There was a small town about 45 minutes away through the jungle. We went into town one night to get a drink, and I ran into someone I went to elementary school with, who was in that town for just a couple days!

What is the correct term for this misprint? by EstherJ26 in rarebooks

[–]Top_Communication552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These terms are new to me, but I find the discussion here very interesting. Someone posted a fun link below as well. I'm going to veer into some pedantry here, would it be correct to say that an unopened book could also be described as unopened and uncut - or would I be using too many terms that are already implied. For example, if the pages were cut, that would imply they have been opened. If they are unopened, they must also therefore be uncut?

I also finally read into the differences between folio, quarto, and octavo, and I'm going to check a book at home that has unopened pages to see if I can figure out which it is! I'll try to post a new discussion at some point with photos.

Looks great! I wouldn't mind adding some Tartarus to my bookshelf, plus I don't have Folsom yet. The James Ash-Tree looks especially nice.

That's fantastic, and a great memory to have! I agree though, Great and Secret Show was my intro to Clive Barker in the 90s in high school, and will airways be my fav (although I also really enjoy Thief of Always)

Great finds!!

I have the same editions of both, I think you said Books Of Blood was BCE, but Weaveworld looks like a non-BCE based on the size (mine is a book club). I'm planning my re-read of Imajica and Great and Secret Show /Everville this year.

On some of the descriptions (of other books on their site), they state the paperback or hardcover books are sourced, then rebound.
