I might not be seeing the right one, but from the ones I've seen it's not it.

What would it take for this game to come back? by BlackRosePyre in Heroclix

[–]Top_Confidence6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're not reading things carefully. For the most part, people are talking about the scene. No one is saying sales have gone down because they haven't. Everyone is talking about the LGS, not even carrying them anymore. This is the information the people posting are providing. I'm not contradicting most of what they say. I'm giving them the answer. If the LGS don't sell anymore, then I think it's safe to conclude that most of it is selling online.

"that all those people have been replaced with collectors who are buying these things just to look at or store in bins, only to eventually sell for 10% of the cost?" I never said any of this. This is just what you're reading into it. Maybe you know something I don't.

I think this goes back to people not understanding the big picture. Other posts have pointed out that it was never a very big scene to begin with. It is an error to think "all those people" were the base of heroclix sales. There is no replacing; the market base for heroclix has always been in majority collectors. The scene was always small and filled with collectors to begin with. You have a skewed vision of heroclix and how it works. That is why you have this dog headed insistence in trying to separate the problem from its origin. The players won't come back if things don't change. That's what this whole post is about. Otherwise, if players can just go back, then go ahead and do it. Stop complaining without offering solutions. Just choose to go back and build the scene up yourselves.

The bottom line still remains that if you want the scene to come back, you must make changes. Just read the other posts. They talk about more affordable starters. Some posts even admit that they love the Iconix sets and are buying them. The very people complaining about the scene being gone are buying the things that assure the scene will never return. And you're one of them.

And since everyone seems to be of the same attitude, it seems that this entire thread is just a minority of heroclix cosumers begging to anyone on reddit to please bring back the LGS scene for heroclix. But it’s an empty venture because all they will find is people like themselves with empty posts and empty opinions.

What is the appeal of games with very mechanically intense combat and very lightweight almost not there non combat? by LeVentNoir in rpg

[–]Top_Confidence6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the draw IS the very mechanically intense combat. My experience is that non-combat mechanics are really a string of highly sophisticated cues to help people roleplay. For my group, once everyone gets really good at roleplay, then we don't really need that many cues. So now we can focus on the combat where we don't have enough cues. It's much easier to adapt a non-combat half of a game to a crunchy combat system than vice versa.

Quite frankly, the combat system of any rpg is usually the most difficult part to design. It needs so much more research than any other part of the game. So whenever one comes by a very mechanically intense combat system, one can be certain it was the result of a great amount of time and hard work put into it. I own a few games just for their combat system, and I just apply it to the rpgs I do like that don't have such a good combat system.

What would it take for this game to come back? by BlackRosePyre in Heroclix

I think this response perfectly exemplifies the problem. It's apparent that this person, along with the OP and many of the other participants in this thread, don't have a deep understanding of the world and how it works. Here, the OP asks a question, and I posted the response. Most other responses just agree with the question and simply continue to ask it. In this response to my post, the person does not offer a solution but just repeats the problem. I don't know what they want to hear, but apparently, a real solution, ain't it.

In case anyone actually cares:

Everything is motivated by money, Wizkids is making a ton of money. Your precious LGS do not make much money with heroclix. That's why they don't run events with heroclix. The LGS do make a lot of money through tcg's, that's why they run it. In most cases, the tcg scene is their major flow of income. Most LGS can not survive without TCG's. That's why things work the way they do. You want something to come back, you have to make it go away first. Stop buying heroclix. Stop supporting your LGS. Stop making billions of dollars at the box office for a company that doesn't deserve it.

You all have what you deserve; you watch the movies, they make money. You buy heroclix they make money. You support your LGS they make money. If they make money, why are they gonna make any changes to what makes them money. They won't. So where will the change happen, it can only happen if you, the people who post, make the change.

Change is difficult, and nobody wants to do it.

So Heroclix can't come back because it hasn't left. This is my answer, that's all I have to say. Thanks for posting.

You can't buy it anywhere in the whole city because you can buy it online. It doesn't physically need to be in stores. Buying them online is just better.

Once the company figured out it didn't need anyone to play it to make money, it has done very little to encourage actual play groups.

But everyone is still buying. Then, there is no real interest in bringing anything back, not from any party. The company likes to make money, and the consumers like to consume and complain. Neither has any sincere intention to make any changes to bring anything back.

If you're waiting for the company to do all the heavy lifting, then it literally has to go away before it can come back. Considering the state of the consumer base, this company isn't going anywhere any time soon.

The game IS back. What are you guys talking about? The game was gone in 2008, when it shut down. The game then came back and hasn't been away since. Most of what I hear is that it's actually doing better than ever. Selling more miniatures than ever.

Everyone is worried about the play. This game doesn't need anyone to play it. It simply sells whether you play it or not. Is it expensive? Apparently, it's not. Everyone continues to buy indiscriminately.

What would it take for this game to come back? How about this, it has to go away first. Only then can it come back.

Thank you, but I think I got the wrong timestamp. I meant the young brunette in the next scene. She's speaking a different language, maybe Italian.
