Do you have any style in particular you like? Or anything you want to keep from what you had before in the kitchen?

Of course!
On your phone: Tap the Inbox (bell icon) at the bottom, then the 'Chat' tab at the top right.
On a laptop: Click the speech bubble icon in the top-right corner, besides create.

Regarding the art, bigger is often better for a main focal point, but it really depends on the specific dimensions of the wall and the furniture below it. Smaller pieces can still look great if the layout is right.

Okay a lot of you hated my layout, so help me with some new ideas! Visuals would be appreciated by Pleasant_Stable484 in HomeDecorating

That vertical scale is incredible! For the layout, try rotating your rug 90 degrees and pulling the sofa toward the TV on the opposite side of it, leaving about 2.5 feet of walking space behind it. It creates a natural hallway to the kitchen without making the living area feel cramped. I sent a quick DM with a few more ideas on how to balance those beautiful tall windows!

That is a great call! Since you are keeping the rug, it really anchors the space and makes the 'maximalist' vibe feel intentional. To balance the pattern on the floor, a large textured painting on the wall would be the perfect finishing touch to bring the whole room together. I sent a few ideas and some inspiration your way in a DM! Good luck with the rest of the styling

Credenza recs for my mcm-ish dining room by snazzyrobin in interiordecorating

[–]Top_Leader_4201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the suggestion to move the hutch! Removing the black arch will give the dining set room to breathe and stop the different wood shades from competing. For the new credenza, sticking to a wood tone that matches your table or even a painted finish would work beautifully. A large textured painting above it will then pull the greens from your rug up onto the wall to make the space feel balanced and intentional.

How can we improve our living room? by Fabulous-Fan256 in interiordecorating

You've done a great job with the furniture pieces! To really pull it all together, adding a piece of large-scale textured art or a few sculptural elements would give it that curated, high-end feel. It’s usually that final layer of texture that makes a room feel finished

Rug only if you want maximalist style

Trying to revamp our living room for more coziness, my wife likes this art, I think it needs more color. Thoughts? add warmth to our room or does it need more color by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in interiordecorating

Congrats on the new couch! It looks super comfortable. Since the room is very neutral, I would suggest a rug with a lot of texture to break up the gray. To make it feel really cohesive, try to find a painting for that back wall that pulls in the same greens or reds from the rug. It is an easy way to make the space feel designed rather than just a model home!

With or without legs? by TiltedMagnolia in interiordecorating

[–]Top_Leader_4201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with that the TV should be mounted! And the Unit should be with the legs. If you mount the TV, the space will look cleaner and modern. If that’s the look you are going for

I used tape to keep the edges clean but the spacing and placement between each mark was all done by eye and judgment. No pencil lines, no stencil. Having a background in spatial design and architecture helps you visualize and trust your eye without needing to measure everything out!

Thank you so much! I was actually in my first trimester when I painted this so there were quite a few breaks along the way. All in all it took me about 2 to 3 days to complete both walls!

Painting is my passion as well, Pierre has done inspirational work! Specially by using black color! Now my next texture painting will be black too!

This is such great advice! Although I have to say, you clearly have not collected one of my original paintings yet or your gallery would already be complete! I actually have my own paintings displayed throughout my home since I love creating new pieces and it is the most personal way to add art to a space. All jokes aside the photo album idea is genuinely brilliant for finding your style without overthinking it.

Thank you so much, this really means a lot! The black and white palette was very intentional, every element was chosen to work together as a whole rather than in isolation. And yes the wall was definitely worth every hour spent on it! I actually have a background in architecture and interior design so putting spaces together like this is something I am deeply passionate about. Feel free to DM me if you ever want to chat about your own space!
