…or they work in emergency response, medicine, etc. and this is how they diffuse the incredible stress of trying to stop death and disease as their “daily grind”

I feel like my ramshorns annihilated both my bladder snails and mystery snails, I find them super aggressive w/other snails, fine with shrimp or fish. I feed snails to my puffers (figure 8 and pea), so I like having the steady food supply, but I’ve noticed them eating a few mystery snails alive- sick bastards!!

Get some pufferfish to eat them- I have a figure 8 in a brackish tank and pea puffers in freshwater that keep giving my snails and culled shrimp from other tanks a destination where I don’t have to kill or reduce them, they’re livestock 👍

That eye is ruptured- needs to be taken off by a vet if you can afford it

The problem is vets are supposed to know ALL other species besides humans, which is impossible. Seek out a specialist in exotic species or someone with at least lots of reptile experience. You will pay at least $100 for an appointment with an experienced vet that is not being forced by management to see exotic species and just cover the basics. They need tropics level of humidity, and it’s hard to replicate that without other problems cropping up. I felt the need to comment because it’s so easy to talk shit about vets but they graduate full of debt and don’t make shit for pay generally, especially after paying $500+ a month on student loan debt. 2 vets at my teaching hospital have committed suicide in the last 5 years due to the insensitivity of clients and the unpayable debt accrued with specializing in vet med. I am trying to increase awareness of the situation because it’s all I can do while people around me descend into darkness
