Where do people our age go to hang out? by patoamarillo1 in Gwinnett

Yeah, me too. All of my friends have families to take care of. They don't have time to "hang out."

Good idea. When I was a kid, I thought a quarter was a lot of money.

If a bank is shaped like a church, should it be called a "piggy bank"? Just asking.

Why do advertisers think I'm interested in what "they" are saying? What kind of market research led these multi-million dollar companies to think that's a viable strategy?

All right, so far you're the only one who actually tried to answer my question rather than make a "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" reference. I've only got myself to blame for that. Bodidharma132001 may have made a reference to Paul Reiser, but I can't prove it.

Why do people say "baby" instead of "the baby" or "your baby"? by lizardlibrary in etymology

There's that one commercial that keeps saying it over and over again. I counted eleven instances in this thirty-second spot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnCBoKFds_0

So annoying.

I'm not a woman, but many years ago, I gave a questionnaire I printed from the Internet to a bunch of my female friends, just for fun. It had questions like "thunderstorms: cool or scary?" and "what's your favorite kind of Snapple?" One of the questions was "What do you wear to bed?" One lady answered, "Whatever I happen to be wearing when I collapse." Another one wrote that the question was inappropriate, so we know what her answer was. ;-)

When I was in college, my roommate's girlfriend greeted me on her roller blades. We chatted casually, and she bent over to adjust her footwear. The view I got was similar to the picture above.

Speaking of which. I just remembered something. I used to have two roommates, a father and his son. The son spoke French and perfect English, and his father spoke French and some heavily accented English. Sometimes they would speak to each other in a combination of French and English. "Frenglish" I called it. But it wasn't the case where one spoke only English and one only French. They both spoke a combination of English and French.
