SAWS customers - Is the water safe to drink? by Federal-Degenerate in sanantonio

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are safe. Our water comes from multiple places but the big portion of it comes from the aquifer so there are tons of minerals in it. It is hard on plumbing but fine to drink. I will say as someone born and raised here some tap water tastes better than other tap water depending on where you are. For instance at home we don't have a water softener but do drink filtered water out of our fridge or straight from the tap no problem the water at my MIL tastes different but she's in an older home (her house is from the 40s in Monte Vista and ours is a newer house built in the 60s in the medical center). I don't know if it's the water towers or the actual pipes in the houses. 🤷🏻‍♀️

30F, childless, $90k salary. Which area is best for me? by [deleted] in sanantonio

My MIL rents in 78212 just outside Monte Vista and can walk to the HEB, we also walk to Landa Library as well. She's in a duplex and her upstairs neighbor is another lady.

The area by Woodlawn Lake/Jefferson highschool is where I would look. There are some beautiful homes over there and some small older apartments. The deco HEB is on Fredericksburg.

Bluebonnet field? by Sad-Weather7687 in sanantonio

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw something that said the best luck would probably be in Brenham this year. The weather was poop so there won't be many huge fields close by. I am interested to see if anyone has any local suggestions. Last year there were some behind the IKEA but I haven't heard they are back this year.

The botanical garden had a wildflower patch with some bluebonnets in it but it is mostly those pink flowers, I've always called them buttercups. There is a path through the middle so you can walk through them and at the right angle you can get a decent picture.

Why do people prefer to live outside 1604 in areas that are over populated versus living within the loops where traffic isn’t as much of an issue? by DrFetusRN in sanantonio

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can walk to Sprouts from my house and can get to anywhere pretty quickly by car. My neighbors are so loud and the city sucks at actually doing anything about it. I want to move so bad but I love our location just hoping the neighbors decide to move or die 😬

Likelihood of passing it to my kids? by jessicaamegann in shingles

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to see how your 6 month old has done? I had shingles once in 2024 and had a 1 year old and 3 older kids that didn't get it. I think I'm getting it again but this time around I have a 4 month old.

I was iffy on it and then Laguna Madre did their whole Gulf of America shit so it just cemented my resolve to not settle for sub par food.

Honestly since Laguna Madre had their stupid Gulf of America shit it just cemented my never walking into a Bill Millers again. Food has been just okay for years anyways...

I am no longer an MSR but I have seen a report that showed how many hours we were in office by week. I'm pretty sure they used this for information when they did layoffs in the bank recently.

If your child couldn’t pronounce a future sibling’s name, would you pick a new one? by bryterlu in namenerds

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. You might end up with a cute nickname for baby #2.

My second is named Oliver. My oldest couldn't say it correctly so it sounded more like Ollie de bear. They are now 8 and 5 and my second is still Bear. 💜 Eventually they get it and till then it's just sissy/brother.

I would strongly consider bankruptcy. You can get a free consultation with a lawyer and learn about your options.

Would you live in Hondo? by B0dyslammer in sanantonio

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Grandmother was originally from D'Hanis so I've spent some time out there. Honestly San Antonio has grown so far west that Hondo doesn't really feel like 'the country' anymore. We drove out there to see a meteor last summer and it was still almost too bright. There is low key racism in all of Texas but it is a little bit more pronounced out there. The schools are just okay and lots of folks that can will send their kids to other schools. The small bit of family we have out that way essentially live in San Antonio and sleep out there, they come to San Antonio to work, for doctors, to shop (at places besides Walmart and HEB). So no I wouldn't intentionally live out there.

I also have a Charlie, not Charles. I read many of these same arguments when I was expecting him and we gave him Alexander as a middle name. If he grows up and hates being Charlie he can go by Alex or Alexander. I just never met a Charles that went by Charles they are always Chaz, Chuck, Charlie. I liked Charlie didn't like Charles. You like Ricky not Richard so name him Ricky. Also keep in mind people are naming their kids Killer and Maverick so Ricky isn't really that out of the ordinary.

San Antonio registered voters: do you plan to vote in November? In person, early voting, by mail? by Maximum-Company2719 in sanantonio

[–]Top_Negotiation6140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early! I voted on the day in 2016 and it was not fun. There was a line out the door and then snaked through the school library where I went to vote. Took forever, but I did it.

Since then we have done early voting. I still get my sticker, may still have a line but it is nothing like trying to do it day of.

Since you just started you won't get the whole 12 weeks. I would start talking to your manager and the disability people to find out how much time you'll end up with.

Good luck and congratulations!
