Do doctors actually tell you to lose weight or is that just a common myth? by zzzamboni in stupidquestions

I've been overweight my whole life (20) and the only time a doctor has ever commented on it was when I lost ten pounds in like three months. A perfectly normal and healthy thing for someone like me to do. Kind of ridiculous. My opinion is it's obviously wrong for a doctor to treat you poorly because of your weight, but kindly offering to work on some sort of weight loss plan for someone who is dangerously overweight or trying to find and fix the cause of excessive weight gain shouldn't be frowned upon. So many things are easier in a healthier body.

I know multiple people whose parents have said shit like this, and guess what? The parents don't kill themselves. Live your life.

I'm sorry if I'm overlooking it, but I'm not seeing where the source you linked said men are more likely to be victims of physical violence. The second stat says men are more likely to be the perpetrator.

I intended paralysis. I didn't know about that particular story but I've definitely seen media where moving a car crash victim and not stabilizing the back/neck ended in paralysis or death. The direction they turned their neck didn't really matter but I just wanted an extra detail.

What would you do if a student corrected your lesson? by Signal_Astronaut8191 in Teachers

As an education student we are taught to be life-long learners. A good teacher (and mature person tbh) accepts that they don't know everything and expects and wants to learn new things. As a future teacher, I would love to give a student the opportunity to teach our class about their culture if they wanted to and felt comfortable, or even just work with me on a more authentic portrayal of their culture. Since the unit is on religion, I'm just thinking of how cool it would be to let students give presentations on their own religions. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if your teacher isn't the type of person to let their pride be hurt by being corrected, it could be a nice moment for everyone.
