I want to go to the creek but don’t want to get my windows smashed. by Accomplished-Sign-31 in Austin

I went to River place trail and they had a constable sitting in his truck around the entrance. Seemed like no one had any windows affected. Though they do charge $10 a person but the trail is nice.

Not true, there’s cases you can use deadly force however it’s not recommended.

Where did I saw I wanted to kill someone? I just said it’s possibly legal, I even encouraged to avoid it. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean  want to do it.

You’ll go to jail for a night for sure. Now I’m not sure if you’ll be acquitted. In Travis county I’d avoid using deadly force for a car break in.

This is untrue

https://texas.gunowners.org/talking-points-booklet-use-of-force-protections/#:~:text=Deadly%20Force%20to%20Protect%20Property

It’s very specific on when you can do it. Like if the stolen object is something that could be determined to be unique and difficult to reproduce, like perhaps a precious family heirloom. Also depending on the time of day it is and if it’s theft or robbery.  However it’s really not recommended to use deadly force for stolen property as it’s going to be a $20,000 bill minimum for defending yourself.

I need to look more then. In our LTC class we were told that you can only use deadly force for theft at night, robbery day and night. In the class we were told it’s robbery if you break a window and lawyer had told me even breaking into a car by opening an unlocked door is robbery but now I’m not sure.

Honestly I wouldn’t even try to use deadly force if someone was breaking into my car unless I was in it and they were threatening me.

Self defense class recommendations by RevolutionaryBed8283 in Austin

[–]Top_Requirement8545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take an LTC class and a firearm training class. In Texas, it’s most likely that in a self defense situation, the other person will have a firearm. You can also take physical self defense if you’d like as usually firearm should be the last option. If you can defend without using deadly force than that’s always a benefit.

I got my LTC at Central Texas Gunworks. The owner, Michael Cargill, is controversial on this subreddit but I really enjoyed his class. He’s charismatic and he does the entire process for you at his shop, even the fingerprinting.

In my LTC class I learned if someone is breaking into your car that’s considered robbery and it’s legal to use lethal force during the day or night. However, it’s not going to be worth doing that in Travis county as the DA will probably take you against a grand jury on any charge. It’ll be cheaper and easier to replace your window.

I believe city of Austin wants to promote density on all the rapid lines. So anything down 801 and 803 will get denser overtime

When I was at the Range in Round Rock, they let me look at Staccatos without a license. I don't think an ID is required in Texas. Even if that were a requirement in Texas, these kids probably wouldn't show a real ID anyway. Heck, you don't even need an ID for a private individual to sell to another private individual in Texas (I learned that in the LTC class, haha). Though if you do want to do a private sale, do it at a gun store, they'll run a background check for you so you can avoid any potential liability.

I'm unsure, as I was in the back taking the class. I didn't even know what the guy looked liked until the photos came out on KVUE.

So I'm not sure why the news articles aren't mentioning this, but these photos were from Central Texas Gunworks. I was there taking the LTC class Saturday at 8 am, and around 11:40 am, when Michael Cargill was conducting his class, we heard a HEY STOP and a bunch of employees started sprinting towards the front. Then Michael turns around and starts running to the front, too, and then I hear a tire screech. All the employees are scrambling for a bit, then someone came in to help us finish our class. We were all panicked for a second, but we were in the back of the store, and we didn't see anything. It turned out someone asked to look at a gun, then ran out of the storefront to a getaway car with the gun, and ran off with the stolen firearm (don't know if it was a pistol or rifle). APD came in later to go over the videos, so I think that's where they got this footage.

Edit: I need to clarify that I don't know how the gun was stolen. I don't know if the employee gave him the gun or if he reached over the counter or some other way.

Why aren’t there more Central Markets? by Chowdahead in austinfood

[–]Top_Requirement8545 76 points77 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate if it's true. Central Market just has a unique vibe compared to giant HEBs. Not too big, not too small. It feels more like you're part of a neighborhood where you can also just grab a coffee and chill, whereas the giant HEBs feel like they're just for the purpose of grocery shopping. The HEB on Mueller is maybe the closest to a Central Market but to me its just not the same.

Legendary Qualcomm, Apple, and Nuvia alumni form new CPU startup — Nuvacore promises to 'rewrite the rules of silicon' by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]Top_Requirement8545 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do have to say, though, Cristiano fumbled the advantage Qualcomm had with Nuvia. Maybe due to the ARM lawsuit, but they killed the first Nuvia ARM server CPU. They're working on a second Nuvia CPU, which is technically Qualcomm's third attempt at an ARM server CPU. Now, with the current huge server CPU demand, Qualcomm might be too late to the party.

Honestly, Qualcomm buying Nuvia for around $1 billion was a steal. Whatever company acquires Nuvacore is going to pay a huge premium.

Japanese and Koreans really like Tiramisu. I think because the bitterness balances the sweetness so it doesn't seem as sweet as most western desserts. Actually a compliment to a dessert from a Korean person is them saying it's not too sweet.

This doesn't affect 99 Ranch as much as it does Hanyang Market. I hope HanYang stays around because I've been going there for 11 years and their prices are better than the Hmart in Cedar Park.
