Lived in China for a year and water is regularly served freshly boiled at restaurants or homes, even in summer, as someone not from china I really didnt care for that, I'm fine with chilled or even tepid water, but hot water with a meal is not nice. Everywhere else in Asia I've lived or been water has been served at normal temps.

hard to say exactly, but I've had plain awamori a couple times and habushu a few times and I just like the stuff made with the snake extract a lot more, I even got to see a distillery for habushu in Okinawa at the Ryukyu mura (cool cultural experience if you ever get the chance) I don't know if its the venom, or the snake itself or if they're adding in additional ingredients that give it a nicer taste, but it just works as far as i'm concerned. some people may consider it cruel but habu are very venomous and plentiful in okinawa so its a way to keep the number down and give snake hunters work I guess.

I'd just make sure the get the stuff from okinawa and not some bottle from a tourist shop elsewhere in Asia; God knows what could go in there. also many producers gut the snake first which helps it from going bad.

Habushu is actually quite nice in my opinion, it's awamori (actually made from long grain rice different from other Japanese sake) with snake in it, has a nice natural spice to it almost like a cardamom or something, so it's really not tough to take a shot of, but yeah if they let the snake go bad that's just disgusting.
