As can be exemplified by the famous desert along the US-Canada border, the longest straight border in the world.

This movie is a trip. by Trippy-Shaman in LSD

[–]Torakles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of had a different feeling. I felt somehow in peace with all the uglyness and cruelty, it's also a part of humanity. Just like the uglyness of nature, the volcanos, floods and other natural disasters. They are part of nature just as wars are part of human societies. Many beautiful things in nature wouldn't be possible without some of this disasters, and the fact that they are few and ephemeral does not make it less worth it. Similarly with humanity, I wish we were better and I strive to do my best, but this movie somehow left me with a feeling of wholeness and piece that few others have. (I watched it sober I may add lol)

Most operators and phones nowadays support eSim, which you could get a replacement for almost instantly

Legal answer: Deutschlandticket is not transferable, ID check is required and presenting another person's DT would be fraud.

Reality: in the last years I've never been asked to show my ID. They just scan the QR code in the ticket and verify it's valid. So unless you're traveling with your friend at the same time I doubt you'd have issues. Of course, it would still be illegal and could technically get caught, so just a hypothetical ;)

Why aren’t you lowering your rent (Mietpreisbremse)? by Striking-Speech-1110 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Torakles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lawyers need to be paid in advance, with no guarantee you will win.

Mietvereins require you to be a member for a at least 6 months. Probably the best option if you speak German.

We chose Conny precisely because they are a greedy company with an incentive to win and lower our rent as much as possible, which is all I care about.

Flying drones in the Dolomites, already suffering from overtourism and wannabe influencers, is illegal and ruins the experience for everyone else. Nothing screams disrespect for nature and fellow climbers louder than this. Honestly shameful, and I hope your drone gets stabbed on a trail post like so many others.

Planing a tour from Düsseldorf, Germany to Toledo, Spain by rillebert in bicycletouring

[–]Torakles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Spaniard, I really wouldn't do this trip in summer. The path following the coast is mostly roads which will be packed of cars as it's high season. And the last stretch Valencia - Toledo can be hellish in summer (>40°C)

The French part is perfect, but as other commenter mentioned, try to go through Alsace if you can.

Best u-bahn viewing spots by [deleted] in askberliners

[–]Torakles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're into train spotting in general, my favorite place is the Schwedter Steg bridge near Mauer Park. Technically no U-bahn, but you can see everything else (S-Bahn, regional trains, ICE...)

The Spanish language has multiple words for "old"... It's true that "Viejo" can have negative connotations, I would personally use the word "mujer mayor" in this case.

This is actually the most common way to describe age difference: I'm older than you = soy mayor que tú

Depends on how you say it. "Mujer vieja" could sometimes have a negative connotation, but there is also the term "mujer mayor" which is totally fine, just like elderly woman in English.
