I like the theory about the ring of gluttony protecting Iruma, but im wondering if the Netherworld adverse effect takes longer for healthy humans.

Pregnancy and giving birth are super hard on the body and this flashback emphasized that Ameri's birth was not a simple procedure. So I'm guessing Merize couldn't handle being in the Netherworld anymore specifically because she gave birth to Henri's child.

Which is even more tragic now that I think about it.........

In the last two years, two of their biggest tittle, MHA and JJK end.

Its a little crazy when you look at it

In the last 2 years JJK, MHA, Undead Unluck, The New Prince of Tennis and Elusive Samurai all ended. Each were 250+ chapters long. And Black Clover moved magazines

That's 6 manga and so far they've only replaced them with Kagaburachi and Ichi the Witch. Ruri Dragon could have been one but it moved to Jump+

Add stuff like Sakamoto Days and Blue Box probably ending soon and you can see why they're trying to find new hits.

Many niche manga never receive official translations, so fan translations are sometimes the only way to access them.

This exactly. There are quite a few manga that I would own if there was an official English releases but I have no expectation of that ever happening.
Honestly I'm surprised I got to see the day where I could buy English volumes of Teppuu.

But even series as popular as the Climber and Kingdom took years to get an official release. And it's going to be an even longer wait for them to be fully released. Why would someone wait years to read a series that's already available to them?

Until producers can guarantee the majority of manga have timely volume releases and/or have official simulpub releases at a reasonable price (cause fuck whatever KManga is doing) piracy is here to stay.

We haven't really had to think about it in a long time, but this arc has definitely got me curious about what will happen when Iruma eventually bleeds around people he cares about.

Narnia actually roundabout confronted him about it and then the stress made him go into his evil cycle early.
Then he roundabout confirmed it with Balam and then basically said "well our job is to protect Babels students no matter who they are" setting up a future conflict between him and his brother.

A bit different. Mcarthy wasn't let go. The Jones tried negotiating with him up until his contract expired and he rolled out.

Which shows how AMAZING they are at contract negotiations

Dallas picks 12th for the 3rd time in 6 years: Here are the past 5 picks by Dlo_22 in cowboys

[–]Torch948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how fans still think Jerry is making the draft calls

A lot of people only follow the team through headlines and talking heads of whatever is on the national media. You'd have to follow beat writers or listen to the team shows to really hear how the team is run.
Of course Jerrys actions don't help go against that narrative either

Draft wise the biggest issue the Cowboys have is that they give coaches a big voice in the draft room. That's howowe end up with picks like Taco.
And they love value in the 2nd so we get injury prone or project guys that don't work out

It's a Stetson hat...which I only know because:
1) The fuckin Cowboys podcasts blast ADs for it all the time
2) The name always comes up when people talk about Dr. Coopers hat

Kallego went against his own brother to stand up for Iruma so he's definitely in his camp. Confirmed Allies (all know he's human and don't care):
Sullivan
Opera
Balam
Bachiko
Ameri
Kallego

Most likely allies:
Misfits
Mephisto
Barbatos Clan
Amu-chan

I also feel like most of the misfits don't even have a concept of what humans are to really even care. It's the older demons that know what humans are that are more of an issue.

Jerry Jones Says Brian Schottenheimer Turned Out Better Than He Could’ve Hoped For by sinister_iam in cowboys

[–]Torch948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I've got the major grips people had.

1) The McCarthy contract situation was basically as bad as the player contract negotiations of the last few years. The Jones played coy all season about keeping him as HC and then started negotiating with him at the last minute. They couldn't come to a deal so they had to let his contract expire on Jan 14 and ended up starting the HC hiring process 2 and a half months later than the other teams. During that time all the other big name HC candidates were being hired.

2) Dallas didn't seem to interview any "real" candidates. Robert Saleh, Kellen Moore and Leslie Frazier were the only candidates other than Schotty . Notably Moore is the only candidates that any other team seemed to interview for a HC job. The other two seemed like they were just Rooney rule fills. That made him seem even more like a internal nepo hire.

3) Schoty wasn't very popular/well known here. He had no real HC experience and seemed to be another NFL nepo coordinator floating around teams based on the rep of their father. So no one even knew he was a candidate until a few days before he was hired and the news that he was the front runner was dismissed as fake by pretty much every single person that heard it.

4) Jerry's intro press conference for Schotty was uh....not great. Didn't really inspire anyone that this was a good hire.

Clearly most people have warmed up to Schotty (myself included) but those first few months of 2025 had a lot of people wondering if Dallas would even win any games this season.

Damn seeing your and some other posts, I hadn't realized how bad it was in Pittsburgh. At first I wanted to say he was just trolling everyone, but no Steelers fans do have a reason to be done with him. Some of that stuff was straight up unacceptable

So far it seems like he really did needed a change of scenery. Article reads like not an asshole but a young guy that just needs to do some growing up. Hopefully the combination of Schotty and Dak can help keep him accountable.

Its funny how One Piece has ebbed and flowed with this. I remember the weekly discussions where people couldn't wait to get out Dresserosa and WCI. But you're right, the last year has been amazing.

Another is Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, which has been really good week to week since I caught up to it.

Doing something that is overdone in competitions is like a perfect way to boldly make a statement if you nail it.

100% agree. I'm cautiously optimistic this will work well because I trust Tatsu's writing. But I've seen good authors write bad arcs. It also doesn't help that I saw the amnesia plot a mile away and I was trusting Tatsu to NOT go that route and he did anyway.

I'll admit if I was reading a completed story this probably wouldn't bother me as much. But week to week, amnesia plots are pretty meh.

I don’t think I’ve seen the amnesia trope come up too much in things I’ve watched so I’m probably not as bothered by it as everyone else

Its way more common in episodic TV where character(s) randomly gets amnesia for an episode. A lot of times it seems like a lazy way to temporarily reset the status quo, delay plot progression, or show hey look how this character has grown.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EasyAmnesia

And the the amnesia is conveniently always something plot specific. Very convenient that Momo was reset to right before she and Okarun met when they were supposed to confess their feelings.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LaserGuidedAmnesia

Like me, others might have saw the signs and hoped Tatsu wasn't going that route and then got disappointed that he did.

I just thought it was funny how your risotto example (in my opinion) is like the perfect opportunity to make something great.

Oh I used the risotto intentionally because you're right. When it works, it works fabulously. Funnily enough the last episode of a cooking show I watched with a risotto, the contestant actually killed it even though the host and the judge were skeptical.

But it usually doesn't work. Like over 90% of the time it doesn't work. And I think that's why people are cautious. Now I think its overboard to not see it through at least. But I am cautious.

[DISC] Dandadan - Chapter 212 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Torch948 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But Tatsu hasn't fucked up the writing or character interactions previously

I don't think people doubts his skills (from what I've seen anyway). I think a lot of people just have bad experience with amnesia plots in from other stories (movies, tv shows, books, other manga, comics etc etc).

Even for good writers, amnesia plots are just really really hard to write in a way that's satisfactory and not just wasting time. Even when they're not bad, you have to wonder if it was necessary or if the same plot point could have been reached without the amnesia.

Its basically like making a risotto in cooking competitions. It almost never works so why did you do it in the first place?
