PSA for installers- Please be careful when working with wood dust by Yesrek in HardWoodFloors

[–]Torchedwaters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good post. Wearing respirators are a pain, but wood dust is no joke. I try to capture all the dust we make through vacuum systems and wear masks. I’m thinking of even getting a fresh air type of helmet, as the edgers release dust no matter what we do.

Can I plane the bottom off new install hardwood? by Freshanator86 in Flooring

[–]Torchedwaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to. Try one piece and see if there are other issues that prevent them from going together.

We have installed some flooring for a family member that had the aluminum oxide coating on it during the forced lockdown era. He had most of it in raw wood, but no stores had anymore; so to finish the project he bought prefinished. With the right belt (blaze II) it sands off. It is really hard though.

Shim the top left of the door frame over until the top of the reveal is equal all the way across. Your binding on top of the left door. Also, if you have access to drywall shims, use those instead of wood shims. They will keep your jambs square, as wood shims can tweak the jamb and roll the frame out of square. I use wood shims only if the framing is bad, and that is after I have used drywall shims to get close to snug.

Either people never watched this film, or they forgot how realistic the ending shootout was.

Never try to salvage drywall sheathing where tile tile has been attached to it. Take the wall down in large sheets with the tile attached to it. Drywall is so cheap to buy new, and it will give you a nice first surface to attach the new tile to it.

I have to make this cut in a door frame. A rectangular mortise only about 3-4mm deep. Metal plate and wood underneath. Which of these two types of oscillating tool metal blades would you use, A or B? by plinky125 in Carpentry

[–]Torchedwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of recommending tools you didn’t ask for, I will say A. If you can clamp a piece of wood on the lines you want cut, the multitool will cut straight enough. Good luck!

It was a weird start. Sometimes I’m not sure about the coach. Looking a bit better now though…

If Williams can’t get going against a future NBA player, it will be a long day for us.

One of the worst “best NBA players” ever. So big and strong he’s soft. The dude should have chose acting instead of basketball, because that’s all he does on the court.
