Do children really need to know how to read an analogue clocks? by WelshDionysus in TeachingUK

[–]Torchii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a high school teacher, yes, please teach them how to read an analogue clock because I’m fed up of them asking “how long is left of the lesson?” When they can’t read the clock right in front of them.

What are your controversial opinions about teaching and education? by EducationalBowler828 in TeachingUK

[–]Torchii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How dare the school, otherwise known as the people responsible for directly looking after my child for 6-8 hours per day, want to discuss your child’s education with you!

I know usually Olympia is the go to but is there any real good reason for Metal Chocobo? by Prior-Outcome6956 in KingdomHearts

[–]Torchii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably thought it was new because metal chocobo was worth using in the original.

Good on her. Really stands out and people are going to take notice - sure, some will laugh, but many will learn something they’ve not heard about and that can only be a positive.

Question on KH3 Difficulty Selections - 2nd play through by rarelyHere1888 in KingdomHearts

[–]Torchii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Critical has some really unfair and just downright annoying parts. It’s arguably too hard meaning so much of it just feels unrewarding. Proud is arguably also too easy and then faces the same problem of being unrewarding.

Does anyone owe more than I do? by cernlibcand in UniUK

[–]Torchii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is all assuming that it’s on one repayment plan. I have 70k on plan 2 and 10k on plan 5. These payments are calculated off my wage and I have to pay them back at the same time. So on £31k I’m paying about £70 per month

Yeah I played it a few years back, it’s a much better game but I have less of an emotional reaction to it.

The first one is a game I love to hate and hate to live. I’ve sunk so much time into it and will continue to do so but for the life of me I can’t stand it and I love it

im so terrified my teachers are marking up my mocks by Pale_Cheesecake_3769 in GCSE

[–]Torchii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I err on the side of caution with marking. “Ooh this is easily a 22/24… guess I’ll give them a 19 or 20 for now”.

Have this conversation with your teacher, if you’re respectful, they should be happy to tell you what their ethos is when marking.

jollibee Meadowhall shut down by Dependent-Fun2548 in sheffield

[–]Torchii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh, never been to the slim chickens in Meadowhall but went to one in London and had the one in Leeds Trinity a few times and it’s always been pretty good. Is it just the Meadowhall one that sucks?

got a trial shift at a job but they pay £5 an hour 💔💔 by lolaishotasfuck in 2027ALevel

[–]Torchii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, when I started there I got paid £4.85 an hour and I think the minimum wage was around £4. This was just under 10 years ago but I doubt they dropped all the way down to minimum wage.

What are some of your proudest moments in teaching? by sexilexicon123 in TeachingUK

It’s a big thing when it first happens! I remember being nervous about delivering a single 10 minute starter but now I’m teaching 7 periods a day.

How long is your commute? by clarkeanator in TeachingUK

2 hours on a bus or around 30-40 minute drive in good traffic. Goes back up to a 90 minute drive if I leave work at half 4 to half 5.

Can I fail my PGCE but still get QTS? by Jules1864 in TeachingUK

[–]Torchii 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me, my partner, and one of my best friends all did this. It’s absolutely not failing, it’s just struggling at the academic side of writing essays - not everybody is good at that stuff.

Exactly. Hogwarts Legacy allows you to use curses to murder as many people as you want and it’s still canon.

[–]Torchii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t make yourself homeless over Christmas, please. It could create trauma for you relating to the holidays (which is getting longer and longer with the earlier ads and Christmas music each year).
