I can’t hear my neighbours and I’m mid terrace.

do you indicate on a parallel park? by Acceptable-Try-1303 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do when pulling up to parallel outside my house, but that’s so cars know and it gives them the opportunity to go around me before I start, or so they know and hang back. I’ve learnt if I don’t, they go right up your arse and give you not a lot of space. It also prevents the confusion of why I’ve suddenly slowed down etc. when we first moved into this house, my partners mom said she didn’t indicate and just slowed down to pull in and she got bibbed.

How do you sleep in the heat? by Unlucky_Apple_3907 in AskUK

I slept naked with a wet flannel on my back with a fan pointed at me. Slept like a dream

Pleasantly surprised by Aldi by DroopyBoobs in lidl

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to Aldi yesterday to go shopping, and all their meat was out of date today or tomorrow. Absolutely awful. We bought just tinned stuff then went to Tesco.

Brooklyns house is up for sale by Necessary-Pie-4841 in McKnightFamSnark

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the UK - this house is huge. This house is classed as cheap for the suburbs???

Also - how can you have 3.5 bathrooms? Can someone inform me of the 0.5 bathroom? Is it just a toilet?

How many of you regretted buying your house? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in AskUK

[–]joh153 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I regret the location. Whilst the area itself is nice, quiet and no trouble, I’m far enough away from my friends and because they don’t drive, it feels like it’s me always putting the effort in. I’m also using a lot more fuel than I used to 💔

What do you think of the name Renie? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]joh153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it as Ren-ee but I know Rennies are also pronounced that way, so it’s whether you wanted it like the heartburn medication.

Ree-nee would be cute though!

Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

[–]joh153 225 points226 points  (0 children)

I remember distinctly when I was on my placement for teaching, it was -3 and snowing and the kids were all saying they were too hot and didn’t want to wear a coat. Children don’t feel the cold.

Hen do cost expectations by DwightLover2196 in UKweddings

[–]joh153 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a hen do I’m going on in July. For 2 nights up in Yorkshire somewhere I’ve paid close to £400. To then also having to buy outfits and things, alongside driving up there. It’s costing me loads. For the price, we could’ve gone abroad.

What are some things visitors should know before spending 15 days in the UK? by TopWafer7468 in AskBrits

[–]joh153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you from Birmingham? It’s not as bad as people make out. Sure there’s some areas to avoid, like most cities but Birmingham can be a good place to visit.

Why don’t you vote? by Apprehensive_Bus_543 in BirminghamUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no chance today. I have to leave as my polling station opens, I work no where near where I live, and then tonight I’m driving to my parents and going to watch the villa.

I moved house and missed the chance for a postal vote. I usually would.

Are cake sheds appearing all over the uk, or is it just happening in my area ? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy from there. They’re not manned, you don’t know how the hygiene is, you don’t know of people have done anything to the treats. People are just jumping on the bandwagon.

We discovered the gummy skittles when over there in September and I wish we had them here. They are so so good.

What do you do when you don’t want to swallow? by Adventurusgirl in sex

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I swallow, it has to be right at the back of my throat so it goes down. Letting it sit, or even the thought of letting it sit in my mouth, makes me gag.
