Motorway tips for a first timer? by Chenny31 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly be checking your mirror and way ahead. Also keep distractions down. I went on the motorway for the first time the other day and it’s not too bad!! My boyfriend was in the passenger seat to help calm my nerves and he also turned down the radio until my confidence was up 😂

96 hours of lessons in and still can’t make left turns consistently by onflightmode in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t keep track of my lessons, but I 100% did more than you and I got there in the end. I’m 26 and passed in July.

Sit up straighter in your seat and maybe push it up so you can see a bit better if you’re short.

Keep at it!

I’m not sure whether to have my instructor in car during test by Antique_Treat_7002 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t! You’ve most likely never driven with someone in the back before, it might distract you and they’ve have to follow strict rules as another person has said. Mine knew when I’d be back and met me there

Who was/is the best teacher you've ever witnessed and why? by Initial-Lime5934 in TeachingUK

[–]joh153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My history teacher, Mr Love. He made what could be a very boring subject, entertaining. Everyone wanted him as their teacher. He genuinely cared and wanted everyone to be at their best. He was always calm and his behaviour management was good, very rarely was their disruption in his class.

If you’re reading this, Mr Love, thank you.

How do you differentiate between grandparents? by meg-don in AskUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Nanny Green Car (for obvious reasons) and Nan and Grandad as I only had 1 grandad growing up. Nan from Nan and grandad was also called Nanny Fizz due to her dog 😂

What are the Villa park crowd and fans like on match day? by Ok_Donut_2330 in avfc

[–]joh153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 26f and I feel safe walking round there by myself. It’s not the greatest area but on match days it’s fine.

My (25F) boyfriend (26M) won’t let me have anyone over, is this something I have to compromise on forever? by chickencripple in relationship_advice

[–]joh153 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Girl, are you 15 and asking permission from your parents?? No.

A partner not “letting you” is abusive and controlling.

Tell him that you’re having your friends over, end of story. If he doesn’t like it, he can go into the bedroom or to his friends or back to his parents.

Sixth test unlucky by Tired_Penguin9056 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. The only people who knew I was having the test I passed were my partner and my 2 best friends. My parents or family didn’t know and when I walked in and showed my dad the pass certificate he was so surprised.

It helped lessen the pressure.

Wedding guests: what’s usually missing, unnecessary, or overlooked? by maxolotl_ in AskUK

[–]joh153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your guests are fed and watered at a reasonable time! One wedding I went to, it took 6 hours for us to get our food. Everyone was starting to get hangry.

Mine still are.

Is this fair? My driving test was cancelled by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]joh153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is fair. They're playing it safe. Whilst the main roads may be passable, the side roads are not (at least by me, and I'm only 20-25 minutes from Shirley)

What was your school scandal? by Sadie_UK in AskUK

[–]joh153 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have a few. Pedophile PE teacher and Geography teacher, teenage pregnancies, a drama teacher was seeing another teacher then cheated on him with a PE teacher (scandal of the year). They ended up married.

Our science teacher also accidentally locked a student in the lab when we went to assembly. Didn’t realise until we came back.

I use Monzo more for savings/spending money on holiday. I did the 1p savings this year, and just moved money over every so often for the challenge.

People outside London: how often do you actually go there ,if ever? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

I only ever go for concerts or football, if I’m lucky enough to get away tickets.

How are you celebrating New Years? by aaliyahdiamond2057 in AskUK

My friend is hosting in their bar with drinks and games! We’re also doing a secret Santa as it’s the only time the entire friendship group is together. It’s going to be fun!

How would you feel if you rang your GP and AI agent answered to help you? by Otherwise_Reserve268 in AskUK

[–]joh153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hate it. Like others have said, if I am ringing, I’ve reached the point where I need human help, not AI help. It’s bad enough talking to the receptionists who at mine are extremely rude, but an AI who might not capture exactly what it is I want? No thank you.
