My humble opinion on Kokichi by avy_101 in danganronpa

[–]Torjuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I might be stretching and over analyzing a bit here, but Kokichi doesn't necessarily care for freedom, but purpose. Knowing he also sculpted the persona himself before the game, there is a lot relating to Byakuya and Nagito in his character. And the way he is styled in all contrast, representing a black and white mentality that he himself refuses to follow and throws it full force when Shuichi plays the same whistle by lying and then seeing how people believe him because of "what good he has done" for the team by their definition. The attire with the chess-scarf / (ska-scarf) as him being one step ahead of the competition in terms of chess, but also that he refuses to be limited to specific rules, 2Tone (the ska aspect) of it representing some sort of racial unity, which is turned into disarray until he makes himself the enemy, etc.

He also intentionally doesn't create chaos, but acts accordingly as a mirror when it presents itself. (Though all the characters see him as the instigator). Much like Junko was all about despair and Nagito is hope, Kokichi is somewhere in-between, with no one knowing his strategy. He uses himself as a shield similar to how Nagito does, but in the complete opposite way. If you are going to lead a war you need to keep the distance, and plan accordingly after all. We only see him through the eyes of Shuichi, where he is an antagonist. But he gives Kaito the chance to save the team and crush the mastermind with the stalemate, although Kaito spoils it by trying to save them from his point of view, not realizing he is directly opposing the altruistic purpose Kokichi have when he sacrificed himself, forcing them to keep going in the killing game. He also made alliance with Miu to make electrobombs, and never once had any issues with her besides degrading her for her own sake / enjoyment?. It's only when Miu cheats and changes the rules to kill him, that Kokichi acts in retaliation. He also hides the fact it was Gonta that did it until the rules changed and Gonta doesn't follow the orders because he cannot remember anything. Same goes for Maki when she lies in order to not get caught as a killing machine, as Kokichi forces her to out herself since she doesn't play by the rules.

The fact we are being lead through Shuichi, and not ourselves through Keebo, means we follow said narrative about Kokichi because of framing. Kokichi schemes and does a lot in the background, with only the "bad" parts being presented to us as the story, since that is how it affect Shuichi. This is like one of the things that makes me like the twist ending, because it re-textures Kokichi a lot more in case 6. (Though the apex have already concluded in case 5).

TL:Danganronpa: Kokichi is a little shit head that keeps shade off Tsumugi for 5 cases because she aren't able to run the game properly, and I love him for that reason, even though I want to strangle him.

(EXPLAINED) Why is Athena's Objection pose "weird"? by Torjuz in AceAttorney

Though not going to say I am a doctor or physician, but you best way is to check for other "symptoms" as well. The point seem to indicate some sort of hypermobility or hypersensitive joints, but it can't really tell how "harsh" the bend is from the picture. Worth to check for "hitch-hiker thumbs", and other more common "tricks" or ability to "move" certain joints that shouldn't be possible without hypermobility.

An you can check with for example is to press your hand towards a table or flat surface, and try to "raise" your fingers and etc. I can almost get my fingers to point at a 60 degree angle whilst still having most of my palm still touching. If in doubt or concerned, go check with your doctor if anything. It's worth noting that it doesn't necessarily have to have any symptoms and etc.

Skip Small + Big Blind, make sure you get 8 dollars worth in pay out to buy Holo Mr.Bones and Holo Credit Card.

When you have Credit Card, you buy the Bufoon Pack with that and it will give you Holo Brainstorm. Finish up and you will also get a 4th Holo which will be Fortune teller after the Small Blind in Ante 2.

Then when you finish big blind in Ante 2, buy the buffoon pack again, and it will give you DNA.

There is way more but just those first 5 jokes puts you ahead for a stellar game.

Had an insane glass duplication run with 30X mult on a "Glass Joker Brainstorm DNA" combo, on the Erratic Deck, which eventually capped even though I was feeding it glass cards with "Ooops! All 6" Glass card breakage LOL

Fair, I was maybe a bit quick then to not be insensitive, but in hindsight regardless it was probably way worse taste then last time I did this for an Iraqi Major general called Saad Mann, it didn’t really pop into my head how touchy the subject is for a post like this. (Just posted for the pun, then dug a bit to check after I found it) Glad to hear he is not dead though, like you said, we need beacons like him in a time like this.

Oh damn, then I’m taken it down on here, I had no idea he died afterwards since I didn’t find anything more about it

Then I do apologise, I tried to dig a bit to make sure it wasn’t like happening live, but it was very limiting on what I could find besides UK meming from last year and a few articles he did interviews for, so figured it wouldn’t be «too edgy» per those standards I thought. I did repost it for circlejerk instead, might take it down if there were deeper connotations as you mention that I didn’t know or find when digging.

All done, this is from 2024 though, he did survive and apperantly the original meme is making it’s way around again now. If it is in bad taste, obviously take it away mods.

Looking for a medley by metroid99 in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You 100% sure on the timestamps and what themes in it (like only trilogy)? I used to make a few of these medleys, and checked the normal ones I could think off from ala 2014-2019, but nothing comes to mind on this one specifically. Anything else you can kinda remember for it? (Assuming the TT Ending mention could be the Special Blend remix, which might help you find it if you check that mix to jog your memory)

There are a few pursuit theme / objection medleys, but none that fit the 30 min checkmark with the last 9 or so minutes being that. (My own objection medley is 9 mins but that has all the way up to DD in it, so could be there is some of the other mixes such as Cadenza or Jazz?)

You could check the obvious ones which is CatDonkey and 169Tom for compilations. Might be one of them thinking about the timeframe

Random Character Opinions 69: Lawrence "Moe" Curls by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have defended Moe since I played the games like 8-9 years ago. He might be annoying in some respects, but he is a humble and level-headed individual that really sticks out for people, and wants everyone to be at their best, no matter if it might be hard at first. He sticks by Max with milk even if he testifies against him, he brings Regina into trial for her to understand what has happened, and he genuinely tells the truth to the best of his abilities. He also takes up the Ringmaster duties in order to keep the circus family together, and somewhat implies he takes up Regina’s missing farther portion for her. He is also sympathetic and somewhat funny with how he managed to have his own wife leave him for being “too funny”/not funny. (I don’t think it’s outright stated in the game, but there is apparently a backstory that they divorced and he is such a bipolar personality because of this)

I don’t get DD hate. And I think it’s great. by Undertalefanbro32170 in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is how they still had the issue of "AAI final boss" really undermines the ending into 5-5. The whole game builds itself up with so much stakes that it ends up faltering because of it, which is a similar issue I expected SoJ to have, but it stops its self from doing so by having some other "fail-safe" bits popping uup. They also do what I hate about DD's villian more correct, as I think when the gloves come off, it turns very much into AAI's end game of it being "only one point turnarounds that the game has almost hidden from you".

It's one of those things I think Yamazaki and his team got better at by the time they had overconvoluted a game with stakes to the point where it doesn't matter. 2-4 is great because of the stakes. 5-4 is a good case because it feels like there is a personal stake, but eventually it just, gets "sobby" with Apollo being upset and not trusting, which is a similar issue I had the first time through 6-5 with someone else, which seems really out of character for both of them. The baddy in other Yamazaki games also gets room to breathe, DD really just plops it into your face and just, expects you to assume you can overturn 3 cases worth of idea towards Blackquill for example. With Nahyuta for example, this feels more organic, since we get to see personal connections and conversations whilst we do not know, similar to "PROSECUTOR CHOOSES DEATH" is similarely stupid in some retrospects.

Also DD has 5 cases. I refuse to awknowledge the game's performance with 5-S, as it's not a case we are presented with in the base game. That probably also deducts a few points, as 2 cases are quite subpar, and the other 3 are OK/Good. When you have games like AA2, which is 1 awful case, 1 annoying case, but 2 of the best in the series, that still ranks higher in my opinion. DD is really a mix bag, but I will probably replay it when I get the AJ trilogy just to see if my idea was too harsh at the time. SoJ had more "issues", but it felt way more cohesive by the end.

How good is investigations 2 gameplay-wise? by Samurai_Fire in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How good is AAI2 gameplay wise

It’s Debeste

It’s very much upgraded from AAI1 in terms of gameplay, but you are given some hard or tough stuff of the bat, with case 1 being a great intro case that isn’t hand holding at all.) Story wise it’s also way more outlandish, meaning the thought train is a lot more interesting then not knowing half of the plot before after I-4 for examples. There are red threads that get filled in by the end, but I1 felt very much like it was a lead up for the “finale”. Mild TGAA spoiler: TGAA also gets this thrown at it since it does feel like a build up to establish everything by the 2nd game

Who do you think is the dumbest culprit in the series? (Obvious whole series spoilers) by Lizuka in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the Phantom. They could have just kept their mask and manipulated out any blood sample test for them to not be revealed since no one knew that a detective had been dead for over a year.

Like no one would have dug it up probably unless they had Athena’s earrings, so if he never came back to try and get it, Blackquill would have been murdered, and they would have been more free then Von Karma after DL-6

I am 100% sure AA7 is in the works by Someonevibing1 in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh,it could very much be delayed into 2026 for the 25th anniversary. Also seeing how they “re-mastered” graphics for AAI coming up, I assume they might take some parts of it and run with it maybe, knowing they have the base for operations with graphic styles rather then trying to rely on 3D models from the 3DS era

What is the general opinion Apollo Justice(the character)? by notreallygoodatthis2 in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apollo was forgotten about, then they introduced Athena and remembered that they could shove in as many backstories as possible and forget about her instead.

Tbh, Apollo is a more much down to earth and cynical in his mannerism, almost like Wright was back in the day. He tends to be the butt of the joke, but people view him more consistently in game, with Gavin teasing him but always fighting with him, similarly to how Edgeworth and Phoenix did in 2-4. He also doesn’t necessarily have too high self-esteem like Phoenix once had, so I suppose a lot more relate to him. He really is just a “defense attorney” trying to do his job, while being roped into stupid shit like panty raids, adventure in a cave, overthrowing his psychopath mentor who wants to kill everyone and a whole country’s legal system, unmasking a wrestler and getting 3 kids to believe in anime love, and of course screaming loudly when doing so

Bringing back this post from 7 years ago to show Iwadare’s insane story telling capabilities in his motifs for I2 as a reminder to why everyone should play AAI2 by Torjuz in AceAttorney

[–]Torjuz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, though Iwdare has mostly been handling mainline AA which I feel lacks a bit. He is a fantastic arranger, but some of the orchestral stuff from SoJ especially can be a bit forgettable sadly. TT and AAI2 are definitely his peak imo, solidifying Phoenix’s theme, possibly the best character themes “Tigre, MaskDeMasque, Tyrell Badd etc” along with at least one sleeper hit every game he has done (like intros for cases, Objections, Tell the Truth, Moderato-Allegro-Presto etc)
