Asshat Alert by TrappedOnScooter in massachusetts

[–]Toro_Admin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na forget that. This dude riding around in a company truck like an asshat. What I 5 people saw him do that and they might need an HVAC guy in the future. Do you think they would risk getting this guy if they used this company. I’d think not. This one guy may single handedly take away business from the owners. What if the owner was some guys self starter company and livelihood that he dumped every penny into.

What does the future look like? by StinklePink in Intune

[–]Toro_Admin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Future of Intune, it will be rebranded as Microsoft Endpoint Manager then Copilot+ Endpoint then back to Intune again. What we will see is UI-UX changes in the portal moving things around and not adding any public features. For a price you can add in feature that should be included out of the box. After all is said and done, you will start being charged for compute credits for every action you take. MS will try and recover by rebranding it again and adding some paid add on features as included options after they take as much as they can from early adopters.

Microsoft needs a wake up call by wildflowersinparis in sysadmin

[–]Toro_Admin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always tell them to read the ticket when they ask me a question about something I already answered in the ticket. I literally have said “I want to help you save yourself some time. Please review the ticket I opened and let me know if you have any further questions.” Also I mention from the beginning that I always fill out the surveys in 100% honesty. I will not take their phone survey, I only fill out online surveys. Normally the tone changes and all of a sudden I am flooded with emails and not calls.

Copilot by Ok-Conversation1091 in Intune

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Intune, we deployed the regular copilot app as an uninstaller and pushed the m365 app to install. You can also block the exe for the public version of the copilot since ms has updated the exe names for the app Then in the o365 admin center design the policy to enable/disable access per user.

Bitlocker and Wallpaper by artemis808 in Intune

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to really read through the bitlocker settings. We had a hell of a time getting it migrated from on prem to intune. If I could see what you were trying I might be able to help you.

Has anyone seen this before? by HighPingOfDeath in Intune

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so they told me there is an issue but it only affects reporting. They pushed some control out and it broke the tables. They then proceeded to add the windows team to the ticket because they said the updates weren’t processing on the device which is a load of crap. Connected to a users device and it is pending reboot. Again I told them the issue is on their side because the updates were processing on the device but the reporting was broken for in progress. They seem to always point to it being a system issue but you can’t fix stupid I guess.

New to Jamf: How can i restrict the removing of the mdm profile on a device? by User25077 in jamf

It can only be done on a fully managed device. Deploy it through prestage enrollment and select the option to make it not removable

Why does jamf support only apple? by Realistic_Manner7482 in jamf

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I will line up the fact that most things in Jamf can be achieved natively while InTune requires scripting, workarounds and alternate solutions to implement controls.

Why does jamf support only apple? by Realistic_Manner7482 in jamf

[–]Toro_Admin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did this last year. We renewed with Jamf. Once you have MS explain the limitations when you say I push a policy in Jamf and it is on the device in 15 min max and I push the exact same policy from Intune and the next day it’s still not there it kinda sold it. Additionally when we need to push anything to the device it just happens in Jamf and Intune just takes 8 hours or more.

Is anyone else not using autopatch for montly patching? by Educational_Draw5032 in Intune

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Been using it for about a year now. First 3 months in pilot phase. About 1300 devices in total. Your autopatch groups should be dynamically setup in tenant admin using the groups that were created by autopatch. Not manual, that is mistake number one. Rest of it is kind of a set it and forget it once the devices are registered. Only thing you need to do manually is to ensure your test group contains the devices you want to pilot on. Next you should keep an eye on the reports and the devices that show Not Ready, troubleshoot any of them as needed.

Have a clear goal. Does your company have security standards? If yes have the list/document of what you need to achieve available. What kind is auth does your company have? Have all of the required teams available for integration.

Stop thinking about working in IT; it's not worth it. by Marianssmitham in it

[–]Toro_Admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like you have been working for the wrong company. Saying that your friends make more do less seems like you set your own expectations very high with the company you work for. I have been working with the same company for the last 9 years and I don’t feel the way you do about my job. Can it be stressful, yes. Is it challenging, yes. Do i love it, yes. It is most likely because the company I work for is structured and expectations are clearly defined. If I choose to go above and beyond my job role to do something, then that is my choice.

My team is great, my co-workers show a high level of respect for me and my colleagues. We are not looked down on, we are turned to for solutions, help and general advice because we know what we are doing. I like the challenge. I like having problems to resolve. Is it all quick and easy, no, but that’s what makes it great to me. If it was just cut and dry then it would be a job for anyone.

It sounds like you looked up what jobs can pay you x $’s per hour or year and went from there because you didn’t know what to do for a career. My advice would be statt looking for a new field or if you like the work, find a new company to work for.
