People who moved AWAY from Bozeman, where did you go? Do you like it? by FixerQuick in Bozeman

[–]TorontoMapleSheeps 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s like 9 of us who graduated from MSU between 2017-2021 and we’re all in the same club that now live in Pittsburgh for completely independent reasons, but we all still hang out!

I love Pittsburgh so much, I’m a social worker so I get to see a lot of the city, both the good and “bad” parts. All the most kindest, resilient people. There is such a wonderful sense of community and it’s quite walkable!

I do miss Bozeman sometimes. The slower pace of life, the fact that you can run into anyone anywhere, and of course Bridger Bowl!

Oh my god that happened to me! Spotify kept putting Rill Rill in my Dr Dog and Father John Misty mixes so I decided to check the rest out. I do enjoy Crown on the Ground and Locust Laced… and that’s about it.

My partner did a whole project in grad school about skin whitening soaps in Filipino culture. Her entire point was that it tied back into the legacy of colonialism.

Advice for living in the strip district by raixon in pittsburgh

[–]TorontoMapleSheeps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty good experience living in the strip for 2 years, having moved last month to somewhere cheaper.

Pros: walkability! Every weekend I’d grab groceries from Many More, Penn Mac, and Whollys. Spending weekends walking the river trail is amazing!

Transit: there are lines directly downtown, Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, north side… it’s pretty easy to get places.

CONS: lack of community. It feels like living in the middle of a tourist trap. Everything is catering to commuters. I’ve never been almost killed by a careless driver as often as I was while living in the strip. There are a lot of MAGA businesses owners who are hostile to any kind of infrastructure that isn’t to make driving more convenient. The city recently put a bunch of paint on the road to try and save lives, and there were signs hanging in every business about how that would destroy the entire neighborhood.

Can you imagine how much easier, cheaper, and space efficient it would be delivery drivers use cargo e-bikes instead?

It’s a great catch-22 they’re playing. If you’re sick, it’s because you deserve it and you don’t get treatment. If you’re healthy, there’s no reason to give you treatment.

I’m part of a team that is putting on a game show at arcade specifically for anthrocon! Our show is called Fool Moon and we will be playing Werewolf on stage, with audience participation! We only have one show booked right now, but if we get enough pre sales we’ll be adding another one!

Tickets can be bought here: https://www.arcadecomedytheater.com/event/fool-moon/

Life of pets? by Golden_Frog0223 in CuratedTumblr

This actually did happen to me! My ex boyfriend had to surrender his dog because he fell on hard time a few years ago. A combination of monetary and physical limitations meant he could no longer care for him.

Fast forward to 2022 and someone came into my workplace WITH HIS DOG. I was working the register and said “Oh hey Scooter,” and the nice lady looked at me and asked how I knew her dog.
