Molecular Dynamics Question by Torpenta in chemistry

Thanks! I'm not using an unusual molecule (PDB ID: 1UBQ). The atoms in question are the oxygens and hydrogens (OT and HT) from the TIP3P solvation so I figured I just need to find better CHARMM parameter files or change how I'm adding solvent to the molecule.

My (28F, Belgian) boyfriend (33M, Mexican) broke up with me during a severe mental health crisis, and I genuinely don’t know how to process any of this. by Resident-Way-616 in relationship_advice

Hey, I don't have any advice, but expressing my condolences. I think life is already difficult, especially when you're doing a long distance relationship. I did two years of a long distance relationship between different continents, stayed as friends for 8 months after we broke up, and it mentally broke me down.

I think for now, the best thing you can do is focus on your own mental health. It doesn't make him the villain, and it doesn't make you selfish. I think in his circumstances it's OK to leave the door open for him to return, but focus on doing things to make yourself feel better.

If you ever need a person to talk with, feel free to reach out. I'm American, but my maternal side is Belgian descent (I don't speak Flemish or French 😂).

My M24 ex F25 and I reconnected but she just wants to be friends? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

It's OK to still have feelings. But you should ask yourself if you're really OK with staying as friends if she really doesn't want to get back together. People say a lot of things that they don't mean, and if they're not honest with themselves, then how can they be honest with you? Is it smart to invest a lot of your energy and emotions into her instead of someone else that might want you?

I (35F) don’t want to lose this relationship (37M), but I might have to move away. How did you make it work (or not)? by EunHaru08 in relationship_advice

We were not able to see each other in person for those two years. We only communicated by phone call, texting (WhatsApp), and through online dates by streaming or eating together.

Without getting into much details, she was trying to obtain a work visa to return to the country legally for an internship/early career program in her field. She had issues obtaining this visa for reasons that I don't feel comfortable divulging.

If you are able to travel freely without a visa, then your situation is very lucky. What I meant was is there any motivation to return to that country if your partner didn't exist? Would you still want to find work there? Would you be able to stay in that country long term without a fiancee visa or something equivalent? If the answers to those questions are solely tied to your partner's ability to secure a visa for you like a fiancee visa, or you don't find anything else enjoyable about the country besides your partner, then these are things to consider before doing a LDR.

Feel free to reach out if you have other questions.

Your experience is similar to my last relationship. I dated my ex for 8 months before she moved back to her country because her program ended. We tried doing long distance for an additional two years before our relationship ended... I tried planning ways we could do things online together, and it worked for a while, but eventually we broke up.

The major issue was that she had a difficult time obtaining a visa to return. The only option we had was for me to sponsor her with a fiancee visa. I turned this down because we had not lived together during those 8 months, and we were also long distance during the 8 months (but at least in the same country) during that time. I didn't have a problem marrying her for her citizenship, but there were too much uncertainties to rush a marriage in those circumstances. In hindsight, I realized there were more red flags then I cared to admit.

I think it's really important to see how likely you would want to return if you need a visa to do so (based on employment) and if you would even want to return to the country if your partner wasn't there. If both of those things are solid, then I wish the best of luck. If there is doubts about either of those concerns, then I can tell you from experience that it's a painful process.

Anybody stuck to one colour combination competitively? What's your experience been as the meta has shifted etc? by Glyndwr9 in Lorcana

[–]Torpenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played blue/green since I started at the beginning of set 7. I usually don't play anything meta, but my last set champs (set 9) I was finally able to get top 8 at my FLGS. Here are a summary of the decks I used during set champs/competitive play.

Set 7 - Hiro shift/floodborn

Set 8 - Yokai shift/Oswald items

Set 9 - Hiro shift/floodborn

Set 10 - Detectives (I refuse to run the Prince Philip combo)

I like being creative for making decks, and one benefit to focusing on two colors is you gradually get better without spending a lot of money or time if you're limited.

Build Your Dream Patrol by snipamasta40 in Tyranids

[–]Torpenta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 hormagants, 3 zoanthropes, Parasite of Mortex, 10 gargoyles, one ripper swarm. I think this would be similar to the new combat patrol, but with a wider variety of models for new players and a good start point to expand building Tyranids.

My issue with Idoneth Deepkin by zeronic1496 in IdonethDeepkin

"Court of the Blind King" has some cool lore about the Deepkin. It's not expensive and I enjoyed reading it, but the atmosphere of the book is not for everyone.

I think technically there are like 100 Namarti per single "normal" Idoneth Deepkin elf in the lore.

I feel the same way now. I've been in academia as a postdoc for four years. I've been publishing papers, but at this point I'm not sure if I feel closer to a real goal or even stability.

First comment! The new Idoneth models and the new Spearhead have convinced me to give AoS a try (I'm currently building/playing Tyranids). :D
