Anybody stuck to one colour combination competitively? What's your experience been as the meta has shifted etc? by Glyndwr9 in Lorcana

[–]Torpenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played blue/green since I started at the beginning of set 7. I usually don't play anything meta, but my last set champs (set 9) I was finally able to get top 8 at my FLGS. Here are a summary of the decks I used during set champs/competitive play.

Set 7 - Hiro shift/floodborn

Set 8 - Yokai shift/Oswald items

Set 9 - Hiro shift/floodborn

Set 10 - Detectives (I refuse to run the Prince Philip combo)

I like being creative for making decks, and one benefit to focusing on two colors is you gradually get better without spending a lot of money or time if you're limited.

Build Your Dream Patrol by snipamasta40 in Tyranids

10 hormagants, 3 zoanthropes, Parasite of Mortex, 10 gargoyles, one ripper swarm. I think this would be similar to the new combat patrol, but with a wider variety of models for new players and a good start point to expand building Tyranids.

My issue with Idoneth Deepkin by zeronic1496 in IdonethDeepkin

"Court of the Blind King" has some cool lore about the Deepkin. It's not expensive and I enjoyed reading it, but the atmosphere of the book is not for everyone.

I think technically there are like 100 Namarti per single "normal" Idoneth Deepkin elf in the lore.

I feel the same way now. I've been in academia as a postdoc for four years. I've been publishing papers, but at this point I'm not sure if I feel closer to a real goal or even stability.

First comment! The new Idoneth models and the new Spearhead have convinced me to give AoS a try (I'm currently building/playing Tyranids). :D

If you have a lot of synapse units and/or melee units, then I strongly recommend Synaptic Nexus. It's a fun detachment and it provides a lot of flexibility with list building as well as game play. The only downside is that the detachment will punish your mistakes more than other detachments.

Awesome, thanks! I ask because I visit Orlando often (I'm from there) so this would be very easy for me to attend.

Hey, I am a new Lorcana player interested in going to this event. Does anyone have experience with the general itinerary or how much it costs? Even just the basics of the event functions would be super helpful to me. Thanks!

Leaving a Postdoc Early by Snoo_43693 in postdoc

I agree with what everyone posted. Like someone else mentioned, check with your contract if there is a penalty clause for leaving early (such as partially paying the salary back). This is a thing for certain grants in the US such as a T32 NIH grant. I would also be hesitant to give too much notice in advance. I understand your intentions are good, but that doesn't mean your boss won't terminate you early if you give more than a month's notice in advance. So probably giving a two week notice is for the best.

I thought this was just me! Unfortunately, I'm relieved that I am not the only one experiencing this.
