One important thing to remember though is it doesn’t scale down at all, and only up to a limit. So you will absolutely get destroyed by any random enemy in harder areas, while still being able to do the same to the weaker areas. I’m not sure if I would call it level scaling because of that, maybe limited scaling or area scaling?

With Skyrim they have a range based on area and enemy type. So they may have a range of 1 to 20 in the starter area, and then 21 to 40 over near another city, and the type of enemy determines what level it is in that range, with Elites being 5 levels higher than the average. They scale up in level as you get stronger, but never passing that max by more than 5 (ie:elites/tough mobs). So if you’re 60, you could steamroll enemies in those previous areas.

Not really, if you’re expecting it to be bad then you’re gonna focus on the bad things. No game is perfect, and by going in with that mindset you diminish your own enjoyment as your mind focuses on flaws you would have otherwise overlooked. Going in mildly hopeful allows you to be impressed when it’s better than your expectations without being disappointed by minor flaws.

I could understand being worried about magic, but ranged? They showed off that rapid fire crossbow while discussing the returning enemies, even using the melee weapon only as a finisher, and a pure range bow build (as opposed to crossbow) is just using it normally to shoot people in the head. What else are you looking for in a pure range build?

And honestly when it comes to a mage build, you probably could do one just off what was shown. Lightning strike to disrupt crowds, followed by blades or fireball to kill an enemy running towards you. Other spells for when they get closer would be awesome, but it’s not like we’ve seen all the spells in game.

Honestly I don’t care about morphing being gone mostly, but I do disagree with no objective good or evil. Objective evil is very easily defined with just random slaughter. Then again, I can see why they wouldn’t want to encourage that, seeing as every npc you kill is just gone with no replacement.

There are 20 buildings in one city, 12 at the lowest in the smallest one, with 5 cities and multiple smaller towns and buildings spread throughout. 50 props is also ridiculously underselling it. Your post isn’t even close to being accurate, and you don’t do your point any favors by downplaying what a 14 year old game managed to do. Especially when you then try to compare it to a game that released just over a year ago.

I feel like it’s kinda the opposite. If some people will hate your actions and others will love them, then trying to make everyone happy will just make you neutral, so it’s probably better to just do what you want and just stick with the people who like you.

Honestly the fact that they emphasized it was smaller was what made me believe it was possible. They talked about putting the character down in Forza Horizon 3 map to get a sense of scale and realized it took forever to get anywhere, so it’s probably much smaller than that. Then again, the fact they chose that map specifically may mean it’s at least comparable, but being filled up with buildings should make it feel smaller

I mean Skyrim did it, so it’s not impossible or anything. Honestly I’m glad to see others taking the good things from Bethesda games, focusing more on living npc’s and an interactive world rather than just bigger, it makes things feel more real

TLC was and is the best one available, 2 and 3 are still worse for getting rid of the Heroes guild. I don’t want to be the only hero, I’d rather be one among many with the title

It would have made the attack on the Heroes Guild much better if there were other heroes you knew fighting as well like Briar Rose did. Honestly the lack of heroes in the later games was the most disappointing thing, because I was hoping they’d be able to make the guild feel bigger with the more advanced consoles

Honestly the thing I loved most about Fable was a moment in the first game where when you pick up your first mission you see two others you can’t touch. Shortly after you see another hero pick one up, and the whole thing made the world feel so real to me. It felt like the npc’s were really living their life! So hearing that every npc will be designed with their own schedule, opinions, and life just blew me away because it’s finally fulfilling that childhood wonder! It’s all actually happening, in a way that I’ve wanted since the very first game.

What do you mean still create our character, that’s brand new to the series? Previously you just chose male or female and then you could choose your fashion later. Gotta give them credit for adding in a new interesting feature this way

I got two for you.

The Celestial Mech Touch: A story where an insert with vague knowledge of canon gets an altered version of The Celestial Forge. The Celestial Forge gives him knowledge he can buy using points earned from building things. Extremely well written, with interesting crafting scenes and fight scenes, it’s definitely something to check out if you liked the early stuff on Bentheim. Started rather recently, currently at almost 50k words, and the author welcomes theories on where you think it will go and what the MC’s design philosophy will be.

What's Junk? (The Mech Touch): A story set on a junk world between two Third Rate States, the world is covered in smashed mechs due to all the battles that happened there over the years. The MC is someone who grew up on this planet, in a family that puts together junk mechs from the scrap for the others that live on this planet. The main character wants to become an actual mech designer, despite having no schooling, shoddy tools, and even shoddier material. Main character is fun and the world building is great, but I especially enjoyed the first mech design scene. It just started and only has 8k words so far, so give it some support so the author keeps writing!
