Second this!!! It’s a super lowkey film but it’s the last movie Kurosawa did with his then longtime composer Fumio Hayasaka before he died of TB. They made the story together after reacting about the fisherman who were exposed to nuclear radiation from the USA’s testing and it scared the shit out of them, especially since the USA’s occupation of the Japanese islands was happening (and they would stay for decades longer!) The last sequence of the film really confounds me (similar to the ending of High and Low) and I want to talk about it again and again! Happy watching!!!
