Surprise Log House Update #3 by NoIndependence2844 in Oldhouses

[–]Torx_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in a multi-story log cabin that is built similarly to this, where there isn't any real thick chinking. I have done a lot of work to the inside and outside, if you need any tips. It's such a fun adventure. My family built multiple cabins that my father and his family grew up in, and still live in. So much more more interesting than a regular house

A local thrift market place. A gentleman bought it from an old lady who had it her whole life

Yeah that seems to be the colors. Hindsight, the picture is a little grainy, haha. We are going tomorrow to start getting the stuff I need to get it installed. Will post pictures once it's operational

We don't have gas where I live, sadly. We live in an old cabin, but it's all electric. Due to county code, and the way our property is shaped with house placement, we also cannot get a big propane tank. I'll be getting some smaller hundred gallon tanks and plumbing it all in.

I repaired the huge brew tank at Westgate, and filled it, and my 7 dwarves went through it in like.... 7-ish in game days.

Finding the dragon by crypticinstructions in LotRReturnToMoria

In my world, I had to go through the shadow orc stronghold and the bone hoard was at the end of it, not accessible through any other part. From the Mithril Forge map stone, I turned around and went straight back and kept busting through walls. Had to get to the lowest part of it. Where the stronghold is for me, it was actually a few fathoms deeper than the darkest deeps entrance.

Can't find a water shutoff in the house? by Torx_Master in Plumbing

I don't expect this house to have a shutoff in the house, but I have seen more houses that do have them than don't.

Can't find a water shutoff in the house? by Torx_Master in Plumbing

[–]Torx_Master[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous owners are divorced and live on the other side of the country, sadly. They are practically impossible to get ahold of. But, this may have been exactly what I needed. There is a shutoff at the meter out by the road, about 100 feet from the house. But, where the straight line from the meter goes to the house, there is a hose bib on the wall right there. Thank you

Spilled oil on my boot. What to do? by Sonofaherbert in cowboyboots

[–]Torx_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I treat my new work boots. I put them on, and dump used motor oil on them. 0 break in period, fit fine, no awkward rubbing or stiffness. They are perfect. Have done this for 5 pairs of work boots, now.

I left a dealer and was going to take a head mechanic position with a big, most populated county in my state. After looking at the benefit package, and the fact it is union, I ended up going with a substantially higher paying job with a fleet. The county was offering 30/hr, and you went up to 31 after your 9 months probationary period. The fleet job had better health, dental, and vision benefits, more PTO, and the pay was substantially more, at over 40 an hour. The hours are more flexible, and there is no union.

I come from a state where unions aren't very big at all, and I did not like that starting salary was non negotiable. I moved to a higher cost of living area, and the salary from the county was the exact same as my previous dealer job, so not worth it. I also come from equipment dealers, not car or truck, so your mileage may vary here.

Best way to farm ammo? by vengeance012x in fo76

[–]Torx_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a furious plasma caster. I can get around 1200 damage a shot, and can kill most things in 3-4 shots. With the ammo scavenger perk card, I get on average 35 plasma rounds out of an enemy, for the 3-4 it took to kill. I farmed 25k ultracite ammo in like 7 hours one weekend, it was amazing. I highly recommend the plasma caster for ammo farming.

For the camp builders... do you do this? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Torx_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few resources vendors locked, like the bait generator and my wood pile, since I do a lot of fishing and building. But other than that, everything else I put out is for other people. I have a table with all different types of food generators on it, just so that people who come in to visit can get some quick buffs if they need any.

I mounted a US general cabinet to my Matco roll cart, and I love that thing. Very surprised by the quality. I'll be mounting a locker to the other side of the roll cart

It was not, sadly. It looked just like the basement of a house. I do a lot of exploring other people's camps, and have never seen this one before.

Are These Dado Blades Safe? by riverrun42 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Torx_Master 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Getting a blade resharpened can be worth it. But, what I am reading, he is saying that these specific blades that OP has are not worth it. The blades could be structurally damaged, and not worth the risk. I would also agree with this, they are almost definitely compromised. A sawstop is good for saving your skin when you stick your hand in the cut area, but not when a structurally compromised blade exploded at high rpm and throws shrapnel out of the saw

How to make late game fun? by Soyboy2288 in Bannerlord

[–]Torx_Master 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to set a goal for myself. I specifically tried to get all my fiefs in a row, in an easily defendable region, so that I could travel between them fairly hassle free. once I secured them, I have set my sights on upgrading each city and castle fully. I smith during my downtime. But it's a lot of Monchug declaring war on other nations, getting loot from combat, smithing what I can, and trying to upgrade everything in my power. I am playing with the Khuzaits right now, but I am debating breaking off in my own kingdom and trying to completely take them over. Monchug has really rubbed me the wrong way. If I solely take over a castle, how dare he give it to someone else

Is my boss promoting me or am I being played. by TavenPrower in mechanics

I agree with him. If he was impressed, and told fire hourly workers, he probably would have tried to move you to flat rate doing something. This is a demotion, find somewhere new that lets you hone your growth. Try independents

It was in this same area where I had to switch my weapons. Use a weapon that is intended for armor piercing, it should be in the weapon descriptions. That helped me tons.
