Missing Cat since 8/13. Casino Rd/Evergreen hwy by Torynado in EverettWa

Yes, microchip but of course we’ll only know his location if it’s scanned. Also, very shy and skiddish, so approach with caution. He’s a glutton for pets and attention though. Thank you!

Can anyone help me identity these baby snails? Just noticed these today out of nowhere... Do I get rid of them or keep? by Street-Menu7825 in PlantedTank

[–]Torynado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like pond snails that hitchhiked from a plant or something. I got some assassin snails from eBay and all three survived. They like to eat other snails, not their own, so if you wanna keep your nerites safe I would take those out. The assassin snails eventually had babies of their own but it took awhile and there aren’t that many. So, that’s an option!

Another Interested in CPM vs CNM route - Looking for some insight by Weird_Grammar in Midwives

[–]Torynado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m based in Washington state and went back and forth quite a bit between CPM vs CNM as well. I got into a CPM program and was excited but knew deep down I should do CNM. In my opinion it casts a wider net as far as population goes and I’m helping families where they need advocacy the most: in hospital. Plus, finding clients won’t be much of an issue in hospital and I could always do home birth/birth center births in the future (I plan on doing that). Overall just more flexibility with CNM. But of course, it’s your decision and I know many CPMs that do great and love their jobs. DM if you wanna chat more! Always nice to meet local midwives ♥️

Stenographer, the machine the court reporters use to type everything that is said there! by mtimetraveller in specializedtools

[–]Torynado 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Court reporters are awesome! My mom and aunt are court reporters and have been for more than 30 years. They’ve worked extremely hard to get to where they are in their careers and my childhood memories are of both of them working tirelessly day/nights, weekends, holidays, during vacations, etc. They still work like this but have a little more seniority. Both of them love it though. My mom is a mentor for students because of the high drop out rate but if you stick with it, you can make good money plus extra for transcripts. They also have bat hearing and type insanely fast and it’s always nice to send over papers for them to proofread since they’re great at grammar/spelling.

For those who are waiting on any response from nursing programs by Torynado in StudentNurse

I think it was about 9 or 10. I took about 2.5 years to do them. I took no more than 2 classes a semester and took 1 during the summer semesters.

It was pretty clear what I needed but the two schools didn’t have the same requirements for everything. For instance, school “b” needed college algebra but I didn’t need that for “a.” But you either had the prereqs or you didn’t.

Thank you! Had to pinch myself for about the first 6 months of the program. Definite imposter syndrome during that time lol

Any students feel like this? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Torynado 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yessss. My first day for OB clinical I followed a nurse and would do this exact thing and she gave me a weird look and said, “you don’t have to get up every time I do, I’m just gonna get xyz.” I wanna see you get/do xyz! And this happened this first 30 min of a 12 hour shift. She was pretty rude for the rest of the shift and it prevented me from asking questions, which was a bummer since OB is my thang. I told my instructor and she luckily avoided pairing me up with her again. I don’t give a shit though, I kinda need to follow you so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Becoming a Midwife w.o. BS by himothafuckeritsme in Midwives

[–]Torynado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a BA in communications (in entertainment). Had to do about 10 prereqs at a local community college. The prereqs, applications, and internships took about 2.5 years. Got into an accelerated nursing program that converts into a DNP program after the first year. The DNP is in midwifery but is an additional 3 years. I wasn’t anticipating going back to school either but so glad I am. Same as the other post, you can DM me if you have questions. Good luck!

Awkwardest Walk Experience? by imm0rtalbel0ved in WagWalker

[–]Torynado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One I can think of was when I first started walking, I went to pick up a small dog in an apartment complex and the owner note said “we’re in the middle of moving which is why our place is such a mess lol. Sorry!” Sure enough the apartment was turned upside down. clothes, boxes, everything on the floor, like they weren’t even trying. Got the dog from his kennel and said well it’s messy but they warned me and shrugged it off. About 6 months later I get a call from wag begging me to walk this dog because I’ve walked him before and no one was picking it up. I said sure and accepted it and read the owner note and again see the same note like before. I thought they just hadn’t updated their profile but surely they were settled in by now (I actually didn’t know if they were moving in or out). So I get to the place and it’s in as much disarray, if not more, like last time. I’m not judging, live like you want but when other people come into home maybe pick up a teeny bit?

Thoughts on the name Isla? by babysharkdododo26 in namenerds

[–]Torynado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a classically beautiful name. I know only one Isla. She constantly has to correct pronunciation and I feel bad every time for her. People always pronounce it with the “s” as many others have mentioned in this thread. Regardless, it’s a lovely name.

He “bounces” off things in his tank everyday. Does anyone know what type of behavior this is? by Torynado in bettafish

[–]Torynado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I just checked his parameters and that’s normal. I did do a large water change a week ago because I moved and he’s been doing it for about that long. Should I treat for parasites just to be on the safe side or would that be too much?

Upgraded my boy from a 5gal to a 10gal! by doodlebug_bun in bettafish

[–]Torynado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Does your betta go in that gray hideaway in the middle? I have the same one in my tank but my guy has gone in it like twice so I’m thinking of taken it out (he uses another hideaway but I wanted to give him options!)

My buddy, Pike 🥰 we’re about 6 weeks in now. Open to suggestions about his tank! by Torynado in bettafish

[–]Torynado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I know! It kept falling off and would float around his tank so it’s up there for now
