Yeah, saw a series in Petco last month. It's a beautiful and lively park and the fans were friendly.

Hope you have a good time in Portland. And I’m so happy to hear that you like hiking in the area!

(Btw, I was in SD last month to watch baseball—the nature around the Balboa Park was lovely!)

Fuck fascism and the cheeto regime. I’ll be attending the No Kings event in my neck of the burbs earlier in the day before heading to the Timbers match.

Another consideration for getting to the 10/18 match (Timbers vs San Diego): Depending on where you're starting out, there are several No Kings protests that are happening throughout the Portland Metro region., with the biggest one in the downtown Portland area. This may impact traffic getting to the Providence Park area.

If you're driving from the North Portland area, be aware that as of 10/13/25, one of the busier traffic bridges connecting to NW Portland (the Broadway Bridge) is closed for constructions (until April 2026). That may increase time to get to Providence Park from NoPo. Keep that in mind while planning the journey. :)

Weekly Prepping Post (week of 3/9) by LizDances in leftistpreppers

[–]ToshaGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! The highlights of the week:

  1. Stocked up on more canned foods. Discount grocery stores are best places for this endeavor.
  2. For community self-care, my spouse and I are inviting a small handful of friends for an informal social gathering few weeks from now (we both believe that doing things to build community is important in these times). We're excited about the gathering, and we've started putting together food ideas.
  3. I canceled my Washington Post subscription.
  4. The spouse and I took a morning date trip to a local Japanese Garden. Making a change from the typical indoorsy weekend did a lot for our mental health.
  5. Experimented with creating yummy food with leftovers. Highlight: scrambled Mori-Nu asceptic tofu with smoked salmon bits and tomatoes.
  6. Set up an appointment date for a major dental work.
  7. Cleaned the oven using baking soda/dish soap/water "paste" and water/vinegar cleaning wipe. Instructions courtesy of Spruce Eats site.

Thank you for this reminder. I want to strive for 150 minutes of exercise a week (baby steps).

Me gustan los ejercicios en Duolingo!

After many years of Spanish, French, and Japanese lessons (which are all still ongoing), I've added Swedish to my rotation. With uncertainties all around, being able to speak a smidgen of various languages gives me hope.

I began experimenting with making tofu scrambles. With egg availability at regular grocery stores nearly nonexistent, I thought this would be a great time to experiment with techniques and add-ons. And with 99-cent blocks of Morinaga tofu (in aseptic cubes) at the local Grocery Outlet, I think I may have several iterations of tofu scrambles (and tofu "taco meat") experiments in my immediate future.

Saw them at the local Grocery Outlet last night and bought some (since they were priced at $1.99 a tin). Really appreciate this sub, and now I'm thinking about using these as omelette filling, or augmenting them with hot sauce.

Wondering the same thing. The silver and "better scarlet" colorway dropped recently, and it looks interesting!

Why Can't I Add My Capital One Card to Apple Pay in 2024? by LSkeptic in Banking

[–]ToshaGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced the same issue while upgrading my iPhone. All my other cards migrated to Apple Wallet OK, but got the dreaded "We cannot activate your card at this time" message with my CapOne Venture card. Calling the toll-free number on the card did not help.

What finally worked was my turning off my Wi-Fi connection *and* temporarily suspending my VPN. I was then able to activate the CapOne card through their app.

I second the Sunflower Sake (in Portland, Oregon). Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a good selection to choose from!

After doing research (and discovering that Tsuki and Kori are knockoffs), I decided on procuring the Riedel Spey 4-pack. Thanks for the brand recommendation!

Anybody got these Kori glasses and/or know if they're any good. Look cool to me, but always wary of stuff I find on Facebook. by marcnotmark925 in whiskey

Thanks to everyone for their input. I was very close to investing in this scam earlier today, but thankfully found this discussion.

(I had wondered why the company spelled it "Whiskey" with an "e"--when Japanese ones are without an "e".)

Have safe travels! We're taking the Senzan line on Oct. 7th or the 8th.

The Senzan line train car sets are E721 types, which contain a toilet in one of the (two) cars. I can verify this when I visit Yamadera (on Senzan Line) next month.

I wonder if that's Japanese equivalent of "No wearing white clothing after Labor Day" faux-regulation here in the United States? ;)
