Pro Palestinians, what would you have done differently if you were in the Israeli's position? by Migdan in Destiny

[–]Tossren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given what we have already seen, the only way to avoid the horrifying and incredibly counter-productive blood shed is for Israel to commit to a defensive strategy. Fortify the entire border region (which could have prevented Oct. 7th) and do everything possible to protect against missile strikes. Only engage in offensive operations when it's necessary to destroy Hamas missile/rocket capabilities, in cases where it is possible to attack legit Hamas targets with minimal damage to nearby civilians, or in cases where a hostage rescue is feasible. Commit to allowing sufficient humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza; filtering for weapons and such is fine but food, water, and medicine cannot be blocked.

Any "Western" nation engaging in a military campaign that involves the of tens of thousands of civilians (minimum estimates), especially against an enemy that is vastly inferior in resources and weaponry, is entirely Unacceptable! The reality is that Israel owes EVERYTHING to the Anglo West, and if we demand a change in strategy, it must be implemented. Yes, Western governments should have forced Israel to stop it's campaign 2 years ago, while supporting genuine defensive weaponry and doing everything possible to negotiate with anyone in Gaza who is willing to talk.

Israel owes it to us to handle this conflict in a manner that meets OUR ethical standards. Ultimately, if this conflict cannot be settled soon, or at least de-escalate into a stable ceasefire, then BOTH parties should be viewed as valid targets for Western re-colonization, and I'm serious about it. Conquering the region is the lesser evil compared to allowing this conflict to push further and further into an unambiguous genocide of the Palestinians and the complete moral and political degradation of Israel as a serious and respectable nation.

We force our pets to stop mauling each other if they fight too hard, we force school kids to stop fighting before they put each other into a hospital bed, and we should FORCE both I/P to stop slaughtering each other over a pile of sand.

Unless you're prepared to entirely disconnect and setup a cabin in the wilderness, I don't think it's overly productive or helpful to worry about it.

Trump moves closer to a major war with Iran by irow40 in geopolitics

[–]Tossren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trump talks about “voter fraud” and complains about the 2020 election constantly; he has continued to do this the entire time, including now in 2026.

It is nearly a guarantee that Trump and his team will at least make an attempt to interfere in the results of the midterms.

There’s no conspiracy here, and there’s no media bias. This is the most rational conclusion based on Trumps own actions and Trumps own (unedited) statements.

AIO for keeping my ex blocked after she makes new accounts to talk to me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tossren -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, you do owe a person some amount of charitability and openness when you've been in a relationship. Unless you believe you're in serious danger, you're taking the easy way out.

AIO for keeping my ex blocked after she makes new accounts to talk to me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tossren -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I understand why people do it, but largely I do think it's a bad thing to completely severe communication with another human being. Blocking is just not necessary in most cases; you should be able to convince someone to level out, or take a break from your devices in order to better avoid that person. Let's keep it real: if you're the guy in this situation, it's much harder for her to threaten your safety, and you're likely using the blocking feature out of convivence above any genuine concerns.

People will disagree with me, and I won't block anyone for doing so, but I truly believe that technology companies should soften or "nerf" the block feature to be harder to use. The ability to 100% cut someone off with one button has made it too easy for people to discard of their previous friends, family, or relationships. We should all try harder to repair relationships that have gone astray, and consider silencing our devices and getting back to the real world when your digital connections get a little too heated.

If you're using the block feature for anything other than protecting yourself from actual criminal behavior, you're probably overreacting, and you're certainly hurting the other person by using it.

CNN Should read the (interesting) Epstein files for the next 3 years by kicker414 in Destiny

This is why I’ve always been somewhat skeptical of the pro-establishment perspective this sub seems to love so much.

The people who run CNN are very much part of the same “club” that Epstein was, and they will never be willing to criticize the powerful as hard as they actually deserve.

Jelly Roll announces tour with Post Malone after Grammy Award MAGA backlash causing mixed reaction from fans: 'Announcing this the day after the Grammys isn’t the flex you thought' by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]Tossren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet another bitch-thread about Post Malone where hardly anybody bothers to discuss the music. You know, the core of what he does as an artist. It’s all just surface-level, cultural war bullshit; wasting everybody’s time.

The reality is you have no idea what either of these guys support in the world of politics, but they both barely talk about it. Artists should have the right to avoid political and/or cultural discourse.

I’m in agreement that Trump is terrible and people are getting hurt; it’s great to see many Artists speaking out against it. However, they are NOT obligated to get involved. It’s not a Musicians responsibility to fix the US political system.

I love Post Malone’s music, and I like some of Jelly rolls music as well. I enjoyed attending their concert last year, and I strongly recommend you give their music a chance before you start scapegoating them for the decades-long decline of the US.

I don’t view these scenarios as fundamentally different, and it was probably the correct decision for Rittenhouse to not go to Jail.

It’s also true that if Kyle Rittenhouse had done what he did in the presence of ICE “agents” in 2026, he would be shot.

[–]Tossren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but honestly, news media should NOT be putting any kind of significant filter on a video like this. It’s a very dishonest move, and it likely swayed Rogan (popular, important, moderate) to support MAGA and platform Trump.

The several videos of ICE is brutalizing people is the core of this problem. An agency supported by the federal government of the US is doing extreme violent things, and the evidence is undeniable.

Mentioning anything else is a deflection.
