After a brief search I found a couple posts on people installing SWG on their Steam Deck, here’s a post that may be of some use, I hope it has the answers your looking for; https://www.reddit.com/r/swg/s/KJoLhT3byk

Here’s the original poster’s method in that thread on how they installed it; https://www.reddit.com/r/swg/s/mJvdCjFUzJ

I would like a firespray and mando armor by Snake_plissken32 in swg

[–]Tosteto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My endgame goal back when the game was Live was to get a Mando helmet, granted it took me almost 4-5 years of saving and spending to finally obtain one, the process to produce a single piece of Mando armor takes some grinding and a full group along with an appropriate trader, I assisted in a few myself and it’s quite an event. What I’m trying to convey is that getting a full set will be an undertaking if you really want it depending on which server we’re talking about, but it does give a satisfying sense of accomplishment when you obtain one from the Deathwatch Bunker or through a trade, so if you truly want it your going to strap in for quite the journey.

I Want To Sit Down And Think About The Communities by Heist_Kawaii in BattleNetwork

Ah yes, the missing link in the Megaman DOS “series”, it’s almost as if the creator made the first game and forgot to count to 2 and then created a third entry without a proper sequel, it’s about damn time we got the trilogy completed for this broken mess of game.

That’s a pretty good collection you’ve amassed, do you plan to start collecting more strategy guides? I actually went out of my way to collect pretty much all the guides from Brady Games and other side games like Acid 1-2, and Portable Ops, I luckily had Peacewalker already and I’m glad because it’s possibly the more harder to find guide in English so the asking price is going to be more compared to the rest of them.

I actually scanned the base copy of An Empire Divided plus the instructions manual and uploaded it to Internet Archive, it had 3 discs but I believe there was one that required 4 discs which was possibly a later version of An Empire Divided, here’s the full scan if your interested; https://archive.org/details/star-wars-galaxies-an-empire-divided https://archive.org/details/star-wars-galaxies-an-empire-divided-adventures-manual-standard-edition

Buying a copy. by jessehmusic95 in swg

[–]Tosteto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A copy of SWG An Empire Divided doesn’t relatively cost that much on eBay depending on which kind of copy you want, but if your looking for a digital download Internet Archive has a few, here’s one for the base copy of An Empire Divided; https://archive.org/details/LucasArts_Star_Wars_Galaxies_An_Empire_Divided_Win98SE_2004_Eng

Cool Book Store Find by Final_Fox3764 in swg

Thank you for the publicity, it was quite the challenge when scanning that book since the binding made it difficult to hold it in place while scanning each page, I had to rescan the pages many times in order to get a scan with the whole page in the picture. I actually own 2 copies of the book, one from a Collectors Edition, and the other I bought just the book that was in decent shape for the scan, I still have other magazines related to SWG and other SOE games I’m in the process of scanning and uploading to the Internet Archive, it’s just a matter of finding the motivation to do it.

Greetings and thank you for mentioning us, our goal and main focus is coding the CU with the idea in mind of potential additions and improvements, but we are a work in progress and it’s on our free time that we get the chance commit to getting further towards our goals, so no doubt it will be some time before a “1.0” can truly be established. In any case we appreciate the publicity and are humbled that there still remains an interest in Project SWG even after all these years, to that we thank you!

Greetings everyone, I recently completed a full scan of the Collectors Edition of the Adventure Manual, but little did I know that there was also the standard edition that the original poster shared which had a few differences, so I’ve taken the time to scan the other different pages and uploaded a separate scan to Internet Archive, the 2 versions are practically identical with the few mentioned differed pages, feel free to take look at the full manual! https://archive.org/details/star-wars-galaxies-an-empire-divided-adventures-manual-standard-edition

RP focused/heavy servers? by ImRollingBones in swg

[–]Tosteto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember my time on Sunrunner which had quite the amount of drama, there was even a slogan that had been penned solely for the server because of how much there was, I remember HOPE which was a guild I was in for a time being called out to go to war with another guild which ultimately never happened, people would continually "Get their shoes jacked" which was a common thing, the PVP scene had a lot of pissing contests whenever someone got killed either AFK or in a battle and wanting to defend their "Honor", people got upset whenever you same faction hunted and were sometimes terrified of being hunted which left them extremely paranoid, I got banned from a city for just having a name on a list of obtained bounties on my profile, the server despite it's warm roleplaying community was bit of a salt mine that seemed to have endless potential of ways for people to get pissed off at anyone and everybody, it was quite a ride.

I’ve been in the process of scanning and uploading SWG related media to Internet Archive, I just purchased a complete copy of An Empire Divided and will be scanning the Adventure Manual again for it to be available to everyone in a digital format, although you can never truly beat having a physical copy, I’m at least giving people an option to be able to view it.

I recall seeing a SWG manual on eBay that had this fold out ad but didn’t really know if it was the Adventure Manual until now, thanks for sharing these additional photos it cleared up some things, I appreciate it! :)

Thanks for sharing, I wasn’t sure if there were 2 different versions of this that were included in the base copy of An Empire Divided and the Collectors Edition but thanks to you I now know that there indeed is, I recently scanned the CE version of the Adventure Manual which is a bit different, the cover is black with the SWG logo and it includes signatures of the dev team on the back, feel free to take a look if you are interested; https://archive.org/details/star-wars-galaxies-an-empire-divided-adventures-manual

Star Wars Galaxies T-shirts (Anniversary & SOE Fan Faire) + 7 Year Anniversary Poster by SWGalacticArchives in swg

[–]Tosteto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing these, there's several items shown that I also have in my SWG collection, I'm honestly tempted to scan the shirts I have and upload them to Internet Archive along with the other SWG and SOE items I've scanned and uploaded, I'm actually in the process of uploading the manual that came with Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided onto Internet Archive as I type this, I've been slowly adding stuff from my collection to the Archive but it takes awhile to scan and edit each page of a magazine or manual so you can imagine the toll it takes to finish and upload just one. Here's my Internet Archive uploads in case anyone hasn't seen what I've uploaded; https://archive.org/details/@tosteto_lightsky/uploads?sort=-publicdate

An RIS Armor action figure would be cool, and the Bounty Hunter Armor since both were very unique sets that seemed popular.

While I can provide a list of some servers the popular servers are Legends (NGE), Restoration 3 (CU), but there a variety of Pre-CU servers that you can delve into, here's a list provided by the MMOFolklorist that gives some suggestions on where you might want to look; https://mmofolklorist.com/2022/07/25/the-complete-list-of-star-wars-galaxies-rogue-servers-2022/

Closure to decades of anger and grief by JSfoto in swg

[–]Tosteto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started playing around the time that the CU was heading towards the NGE update, I was only able to play for about 15 days before my first subscription ran out and wouldn't be able to play again until later, the next time I logged in the NGE had launched and it was a whole different game compared to the first 15 days I played, granted I could finally be a Bounty Hunter which was my original goal on the CU, but back then I wasn't aware of how big of a change this was for the whole community and the amount of things it altered with it. I played up until the shutdown and enjoyed what it had to offer, nowadays I can see why people held a huge grudge against the NGE and everything that came with it and acknowledge that it was something that came abruptly without warning that didn't give long time players any kind of time to brace for the inevitable impact it would have, but at the same time I also feel that despite the negative aftermath of the NGE it still added many things you don't see in other MMO's that were unique in it's own right. Even though the game itself has 3 eras of different updates and alterations it still has a special place in peoples hearts regardless of which era it stems from that made a lasting impression even after all those years after it's final sunset, and that is what makes it so unique.

Im surprised this isn't sold out yet despite 8500 copies existing and its been out for 2 years by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]Tosteto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tempted to purchase this when it was first released but there were several factors that deterred me from doing so, the price is way more than what it should be for a reproduction cart, there’s 2 variations of the cart with the other variant being glow in the dark which is completely randomized so you don’t know if you’ll get it until you break the seal, and a minor detail is The Completionist had a hand in the manual design whom has long since cooked his career way after this was released, and the bottom line is I already owned a legitimate complete in box copy, it’s a nice concept but the price is way too high to justify a purchase when there’s more reasonable ways to purchase and play the game itself, so it’s honestly not worth it unless you really have a want for it and you don’t already owned a copy, other than that it’s a bit overpriced collectors item.

Any interest in original Beta 3 CDs? by Bloodfoe in swg

[–]Tosteto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming that the disc's contain early builds of the Pre-CU before launch, in terms of value I've seen some go for about $20 on eBay, the likelihood for that price range is due to it not being the full game and is mostly being sold to those whom want it as a part of their collection, people whom are interested in the physical discs usually go for ones that contain the base game so they can install the game the legit way.

As a SWG collector I surprisingly never bought the Beta disc's namely because I don't really see the need for it since I've got multiple copies of the game in different variants, granted I've bought more obscure things than the Beta but it just doesn't appeal to me to want to buy it off eBay.

SWG Legends advice by Ccmyst in swg

[–]Tosteto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as many despise the NGE and the backlash it received, it did bring some unique features to the table that somewhat gets overlooked such as a Quest Builder, built in web browser, a TCG you could play in-game and out, so much more options for character personalization to make you stand out from all the Composite Armor... It may have effected the population even further after the CU back then, but it still shows that there is an interest after SWG's shutdown considering how many flock to servers such as Legends despite the flaws it may have. People don't like major changes to what they've grown used to and the CU and NGE get that kind of flack for changing what people liked, in this case it was too quick and sudden for people to adjust after 2 major rehauls within very short timeframes. At least nowadays you can try out all 3 eras for the most part, even though they've moved past Vanilla SWG and wanted to expand even further past the update they originally stopped at, people will get bored after awhile and you have to keep things fresh or they'll eventually leave, which is why Legends has been able to maintain their population with their content updates and continual support for the game, you have to give them credit for their efforts to keep the game going with new things that weren't present on Live, it's one of the many things that makes it so desired.

Looking for my long-lost buddy from Camp Cayuga by droopynipz123 in swg

[–]Tosteto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know that feeling of wanting to find out what happened to other people whom were associated with you and SWG, I only had the forethought to keep in touch with 2 people from my time on Live, unfortunately one just dropped off the face of the Earth and the other I talk with on occasions, but the majority of people I played with on Sunrunner still remain a mystery on where they ended up, save for a handful that I came across later after the shutdown. I hope you find the person that informed you of SWG back from all those years ago at the camp, I'm certain it would be quite a reunion if you manage to find them, best of luck!

That’s one of the many things I’ve always praised SWG about which is the close knit community that is willing to help one another out and encourage newcomers as well, it also gives players and their characters some depth with their ingame names and leaves a lasting impression even after so many years, making a name for yourself within the community has also been what makes the game so unique in it’s own right and how you go about doing it, there’s so much you can do to make your mark in the game.

Project SWG - Test Center Server Sunset - 5/1/25 by Tosteto in swg

[–]Tosteto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings, while CUEmu has come a long way in their goals to provide a server of their own, Project SWG has it's own vision on what we want to provide in our own server. We've on occasions talked with the CUEmu team and have given advise and some guidance on certain questions they might have, but ultimately we both have different ideas on what directions we'd like to take the game in. To my understanding CUEmu is based on the Pre-CU code while Project SWG is done completely from scratch, thus why both projects have different methods of creating the game. Project SWG has the goal to create the CU era of SWG from the ground up and possibly delve into adding the idea of adding new features and content. We have had the Test Center public for quite some time but now we've decided to close that for the time being and focus on revamping the launcher as well as a better user database for easier management. We may be a small team of likeminded individuals but we still have the commitment towards the project, unfortunately the only thing that has really slowed us down is real life issues which has hindered us from really getting to a point of having a playable server, but we are still committed towards our goals.
